CT et al
I have a marriage event, courtesy of FreeBMD, for Phillippa Glasson and John Bishop at Redruth in 1853. They are then evident in the 1861 census but not in the latter.
I am sure that they went to South Australia and Phillippa is the burial in that cemetery on the 1st December 1874.
Is there access anywhere to her burial record so that I can see who she states to be her parents. I believe that it is John Penhalle Glasson and Honor Bishop but I would really like a little bit of proof.

G'day Lannanta - this might be a little more tricky than I first envisaged. Unfortunately the name/s of Parents of the deceased was not a requirement on any South Australian Death Certificates so even forking out a couple of bucks is not going to help. www.familyhistorysa.info/births-marriages-deaths/This link will give you details of the information that could be entered on the various certificates for South Australia. Information in the Death Index:- Surname: BISHOP Given Names: Phillippa Date: 184-11-30 Sex: F Age: 39y Status: M Relative: John BISHOP (H) Relative 2: Residence: Moonta Mines Death Place: Moonta Mines District Code: Dal Symbol: Book: 61 Page: 444 Cross Reference: That gives us a birth year of 1835 which may be of some help. I will have a look around to see if there is anything more I can find. CT

The following list of South Australian Births might offer some clues. Father: John BISHOP Mother: Philippa GLASSON Catherine Jane 1st January 1866 Allendale Clara 12th March 1868 Moonta Catherine 4th July 1870 Moonta Jane 24th July 1872 Moonta Mines Ellen 10th February 1874 Moonta Mines This next is a list of Bishop Deaths in the Moonta area who might reasonably be connected and where the Relative is named as John Bishop. Caroline Jane age 18 mths 13th July 1867 Moonta Jane age 6 mths 20th January 1873 Moonta Mines Catherine age 2y6m 19th March 1873 Moonta Mines Ellen age 9 weeks 17th April 1874 Moonta Mines Phillippa age 39 30th November 1874 Moonta Mines John age 53 27th May 1885 Moonta Mines I believe Catherine Jane and Caroline Jane are the same child and location suggests that John Bishop was Philippa's husband. That tells us that the family arrived sometime before 1866 and it confirms that Philippa Bishop was indeed 'a' Philippa Glasson. CT

Looks pretty good and the birth and death of Catherine Jane is mirrored back in Cornwall before they emigrated. They would most likely have taken three children to Oz, Elizabeth, John and William Henry.
At this stage I would only have been interested if I could have seen Phillippa's death entry without having to pay, and the relevant information had been entered.
My suggestion for Phillippa is she being the daughter of John Penhalle Glasson and Honor Bishop (surname is promising as well) and baptised at Redruth in November 1836. With younger sisters including a Catherine and a Jane it looks pretty promising.

PS have another wee puzzle for you coming up after I listened to a bit more Marty Robbins. ;D

Marty Robbins! - Another old favourite. I also checked the 1851 Census and the combination of data sugests there can be little doubt that Philippa was who you suspect her to be. CT

Just relaxing mate - been an awesome 12 days and now we are very close to having the power back onto all of Christchurch. Amazing stories of destruction abound. A day off today for me but back at it tomorrow.
