HI All - due to technical problems I may be unavailable to look at or answer queries for at least a couple of days. My internet access and mobile phone both run off the same Communications Tower and unfortunately that tower appears to have major problems at the moment. Hence I have no internet access at home and no mobile phone access unless I am within range of another compatible tower! I have had the problem escalated so hopefully (darn that is a big word! ) things might get back to normal within a day or so. Not sure how convinced I am of that prospect! I can at least try and keep a little up to date from the Fire Station computer from which I post this note. CT

in a geographical area the size of the continent that is Australasia, I suppose that "techno-probs" can be excused......How they manage to conspire to create such problems on an island the size of Britain remains a mystery to me, but they do, so you are not alone and good luck in getting back "on-line" Ted

Have you tried disconnecing and unplugging your sky box CT Good luck in getting back online quickly. I really hope you have more success than we did. We spent days and days dealing with the first line of tech help before they finally stopped reading off their scripts and escalated to a call out from the phone provider.

Seems like things 'might' be back to normal. I called the provider yesterday and finally got an Aussie accent! The previous couple of people I had trouble understanding but it was suggested there was probably a fault with my modem. The fella yesterday had a look at things and could not understand why I was being told the modem might be at fault when it was clear to him there were other issues involved. I informed him that my mobile phone service was also down (same tower as my internet) and he escalated the problem straightaway. I also let him know that I was with the fire brigade and that my phone was a backup for if the pager system failed. No access again all night and all day today. I called again and got another Aussie accent! No indication as to what was causing the problem and no estimate of when there might be any solution either. Chatted for a few minutes and I reinforced my message about fire brigade etc. And this time I advised that I would be calling again tomorrow and every day afterwards until there was a resolution to the problem. Well burn me and butter me on both sides if I did not have full signal on my mobile phone within about 30 minutes! And when I got home the phone was still working AND my internet access was restored! Amazing! Unable to determine the exact cause of the problem therefore unable to find a solution with the prospect of the outage lasting for several more days. Within about 30 minutes of my call a cause has been found, a solution applied and everything seems back to normal!! Was it something I said? Perhaps the thought of me ringing everyday caused a sudden flurry of activity! CT

I'll remember that one in future CT. If net fails..... phone and threaten the provider with calls from CT on a daily basis until a solution is found.

The bonus is that, after a nice friendly chat this afternoon, I will have 5 dollars deducted from my next Internet Bill as well as 5 dollars deducted from my next mobile phone bill.
