Has anyone any information about Job Berriman's family. Job appears in the 1841 census listed as a miller in Sancreed aged 41 with wife Ann 40, son Job 14 and daughter Catherine 10? I think Job comes from Towednack born abt 1798 and his father was also Job. Job (the younger) marries Ann and they have a child Ann. This Ann marries William Humphrys and they have a child Margaret Ann Berriman Humphreys who marries Thomas Mitchell in 1865. (Three Jobs and two and a half Anns so far) I can find no record of the mariage of Ann and William Humphrys nor the Ann who marries Job. To complicate the issue, I find in 1846 a Diana Jane Nicholas Berryman aged 22 father Job (a miller) marrying in Madron where she is also listed in the 1841 census, but can't tie in the 'Nicholas' bit as yet.

Thanks folks........I have now found the marriage of Job Berriman and Ann Nicholas via the OPC site....Don't know why I couldn't find it before. Lamorna...do you have any info on the extended family of Job in Towednack?
I still cannot find any reference to the marriage of Ann and William Humphrys. I have a WIlliam Humphrys (b 1819 Sennen) but am not sure that he is the same William who married Ann Berriman.

I have just had a look at the 1841 census and have found
Job Berriman born 1816 John Berriman born 1821
Living at Skillingrove? Towednack.
Now I don't know who these two belong to.
A birth for Job Nicholas Berriman 21.10.1827 Sancreed. The parents for this Job are Job and Ann.
I don't have any particular information for the extended family of Towednack but I can have a look for you if you want any names searched for.

Tony - what is it you want to know about the 'extended family' at Towednack? I still have a few problems with the Berryman families but have most from that area in reasonable order. Also:- Ann d/o Job and Ann Berriman bp. 16th December 1821 Sancreed Diana Jane Nicholas d/o Job and Ann Berriman bp. 25th June 1824 Sancreed Job Nicholas s/o Job and Ann Berryman of Treganho Mill bp. 21st October 1827 Sancreed Catherine d/o Job and Ann Berryman of Trriginoe(?), Sancreed bp. 9th May 1830 Sancreed As for the marriage of William Humphrys and Ann - and a connection with Job Berryman - I think you might be chasing the proverbial goose! 2nd November 1844 by Banns William Humphries age 24, bachelor, miner of Brea, son of Robert Humphries, husbandman married Ann PENROSE age 21, spinster of Brea, daughter of James Penrose, husbandman 1851 Census Bostrays, St Just William HUMPHRIES, head, mar, 31, tin miner, St Just Ann do., wife, mar, 27, St Just Margaret A do., daur, 4, St Just Margaret Ann Berriman daughter of William and Ann Humphries of Bostrays, miner, was baptised 12th July 1846 at St Just Now I need to work out the connection between either HUMPHRIES or PENROSE. Tony - we know from information in the Marriage record and the 1851 Census that Ann PENROSE was born about 1824 at St Just. Ann daughter of James and Margaret Penrose of Kerrow, miner, was baptised 26th March 1824 at St Just I would think that is your girl. James PENROSE married Margaret BERRYMAN 30th November 1806 at St Just There is your answer! ;D I have not done a lot of work on the Berrymans at St Just so I cannot yet tell you who Margaret belongs to. But she is certainly no close connection to Job. So the Goose has done a runner and I think you can stop chasing it. CT

In 1861 the family were living at Brea.
Just the three of them, no other children recorded.

Margaret Berryman born 1783 St Just in Penwith could be the daughter of Jane Taylor born 1751. Father unknown.
Margaret and James Penrose I believe had 8 children.
I can give you the names but I haven't done any work on this family myself.
