Hello all. Just joined. I have in my records, a very early reference to a Robert Quic. (Note the spelling) the first one was recorded in Devon in 1279. This may be the forerunner to the name Quick. Can anyone assist or shed any light on this?

And welcome to you also. Devon is a County abundant in Quicks with many early entries appearing in IGI. Whether there is any connection to those of West Cornwall I have no idea but I do know that some of the later Quicks from West Cornwall ventured up into Devon. As for the 1279 entry - it would be very difficult to prove anything or to link back to that date. We can certainly get involved with later families so I look forward to helping you with any brickwalls you might have. CT
