My name is Graham. I just happened on your site by accident and am very glad I did. I live in Rosudgeon (just after Marazion on the Penzance to Helston road). Although born in Burnley, Lancashire, I am the son of a Cornishman (born near Liskeard) and the greatgrandson of a Cornish couple. My ancestry boasts the following Penwith connections Richards (Paul/Newlyn/Camborne); Jacka (Ludgvan/Marazion). My wife (Wendy) is also of Cornish descent on her mother's side. Trezise (St Just/Sancreed); Bryant (Lelant); Webber (Lelant); Grenfell (Madron/St Ives); Rowe (St Hilary); Cowling (St Ives).
The happy coincidence is that Wendy and I met in Burnley unaware of our common Cornish ancestry and now we can walk the lanes our ancestors trod.

Hello and welcome form a fellow Cornish/Lancastrian ;D (born in Leigh and early life spent in Chow Bent ). Grandparents moved 'Up North' in the early 1900s from St Just/Sancreed/Sennen. Interestingly, Trezise plays a minor but significant role in my family history and there is mention of Jacka, Rowe and Grenfell. Very friendly board this with expert (not from me....I'm no expert) advice and information about genealogy. Tony M

Hi Tony
Thanks for the welcome. Only ever had one experience of Leigh and that was to watch a rugby league game at Hilton Park (I think), back in the day when there weren't any Centurions at Leigh.
Hi to you too Mr Terrier (or may I call you Cornish?)

Hilton Park.....brings back memories. Went most Saturdays, but that was in the time when Jimmy Legard was full back and Rowe and Reily were halfbacks. (Forgotten the names of the rest). My PT master at school was Emlyn Jenkins, ex Welsh international, ex Salford standoff and Coach at Leigh.....Played a bit myself and to my dying day will remember Emlyn screaming at me when I missed a tackle, "Get his legs....you can't run without legs." I'm interested in your Trezise connection.....I found an ancestor, Margaret Grenfell Mitchell marying a James Trezise in 1830. Several children from this union including one Benoni Jehabod Mitchell Trezise (b 1839)....Great name!!! Tony M
