I have now identified and found families for two more Jane Quicks!
Two marriages at St Ives were confusing matters:-
Sidney RICHARDS, widower, married Jane QUICK 3rd June 1816 St Ives
Thomas BARBER married Jane QUICK 8th December 1816 St Ives
I originally had the former as being baptised 13th January 1790 at St Ives d/o James Quick and Jane Michell.
The Barber/Quick marriage was a problem as I could not find any children.
BUT! - that has now all changed!
Thomas BARBER was in the Coast Guard service and spent some time as a Preventive Officer.
Prior to knowing this was the Thomas who married Jane Quick I did know that he had a son named John who married Jane MICHELL at Towednack in 1849.
Jane Michell was the daughter of Samuel Michell and Mary Trewhella.
Searching the Census and I found what had to be Thomas and Jane Barber in 1851 with both stating the were age 61 and both born St Ives.
In the 1841 Census the family was at Gorran and with them was a son named William who was baptised at Tywardreath in 1830.
In the 1861 Census Jane is back at Zennor with daughter-in-law Mary Ann Barber age 24.
William Barber son of Thomas Barber, Coast Guard, married Mary Ann Berryman at Zennor in 1856.
In 1841 there was also daughter Jane, now married to someone named CLARK.
I have since found Jane's baptism in the St Ives Independent PRs and her marriage appears in FreeBMD to Thomas Clark in the St Austell R.D. in 1840.
But I also found another son while searching the OPC site.
James Quick BARBER son of Thomas and Jane bp. 22nd January 1826 at Ruan Minor
So a look at the available Jane Quicks born around 1789/90 was in order.
Jane bp. 1788 d/o Israel and Mary (she married Robert Bennatts0
Jane bp. 1789 d/o Gabriel and Mary (she married Oliver Oliver with her father as witness)
Jane bp. 1790 d/o Samuel and Eleanor (she was born at Feock!)
The only possible Jane seemed to be:-
bp. 13th January 1790 St Ives d/o James and Jane
But I already had her married to Sidney Richards!
At this point I decided to have another look at the family of Sidney Richards.
And also at this point I found out just how STUPID I had been!
From what I have been able to find I already knew that Jane QUICK had one child from her marriage to Sidney RICHARDS:-
Phillipa REED Richards bp. 28th March 1817 at St Ives
THAT should really have told me something!!!
The Jane Quick who married Sidney Richards MUST have been the following:-
Jane d/o John and Phyllis Quick bp. 5th August 1792 Penzance
John Quick married Phyllis READ 8th August 1783 at Madron
And that now means that the wife of Thomas BARBER was the daughter of James QUICK and Jane MICHELL.
