Welcome to Penwith Genealogy and thanks for joining us.
Not a family I have had a lot to do with but I can help with a couple of items already.
From the records I have available at the moment the following children were baptised at Illogan to Edmund and Rachel Orchard:-
William Edwin bp. 26th April 1835
James Henry bp. 24th December 1837
Rachel Sophia bp. 26th April 1840
Father recorded as a Tailor/Taylor in each case.
I have checked the US Census and Edmond's age appears consistent throughout - except for 1860 where he appears as age 59!
From IGI I would suggest the probability that Edmond was the following:-
Edmond s/o William and Jane Orchard bp. 23rd August 1812 Redruth
William and Jane had an earlier son named Edmond baptised in 1808.
Unfortunately I do not have burial records for Redruth but I am sure this is the same family and that this William died young.
At this point in time I am looking at the possibility that Edmond's parents were married in the Parish of Constantine.
William Orchard married Jane Lock 9th April 1793 at Constantine.
There is nothing to indicate where William was from but the interesting thing is that there is only one child from this marriage baptised at Constantine.
Francis s/o William and Jane Orchard bp. 13th April 1794 Constantine
After this it appears to be the same family baptising children at Redruth and Illogan.
So at the moment we have the following:-
William Orchard m. Jane Lock 9th April 1793 Constantine
Francis bp. 13th April 1794 Constantine
John bp. 24th July 1796 Redruth
Susannah bp. 16th June 1799 Illogan
Alice bp. 2nd May 1802 Illogan
William bp. 20th May 1804 Redruth
Samuel bp. 9th November 1806 Redruth
Edmund bp. 13th November 1808 Redruth
Jenny bp. 11th March 1810 Redruth
EDMUND bp. 23rd August 1812 Redruth
From the information I have been able to find so far this looks the most likely scenario for your family.
That at least gives us a scenario to work with.
