I need some lateral thinking with an issue that I have been pondering on all day.
Richard Glasson and Margaret Rowe were married in 1804 at Camborne. From 1805 to 1823 they had seven children, all at Camborne - Troon in the latter years. They were:
Richard
Margaret
John
Elizabeth
Benjamin
James
Elizabeth
There is a death for a Richard of Troon in 1825, aged 41 years.
Then there is another Richard at Troon having children from 1826 to 1832 and I believe that this Richard married Margery Smith and he could well be the son of the Richard above. His children:
Richard
John
Richard
Benjamin (that name again).
So I originally assumed that the only Richard that could be Richard senior is the son of Robert and Eleanor baptised 1777 at Crowan. But on reflection the names don't fit (and I mean they really don't look anything like you would expect- the name that does fit is the son of John Glasson and Elizabeth Bottrall but he was born about 1796.
The silly thing is that Margaret Rowe may well appear in the 1841 census with Benjamin of the 1817 era. But Margaret's age is clearly given as 45 - making her 1796 as well???
I know that two eight year olds could not have started the first family but weirdly, if it wasn't for their age, it would all fit.
To top it off John Glasson and Elizabeth Bottrall had a son named - you guessed it - Benjamin.
So it is possible that the second Richard (Margery Smith's husband) is the son of John and Elizabeth - however both Richards were listed as miners of Troon - maybe a red herring??
Appreciate your thoughts, or anybody else who can help.
