Hello everyone, Been away for a while with work and umpteen other things! Thanks to JMG's good work it seems we have solved the case of my elusive ancestor and been able to go further back. A couple of things I have noted... Davey/Davy seems to have been more typical in the 18th century whereas it seems to mutate to Daves and Davis/Davies in the 19th century. The same family! Just goes to show my grandfather was right when he said that in the West Country the name Davey and Davies were one and the same. Interestingly enough I remember some older relatives who used to call us lot by the name "Davey" (pron. Deh-vee) Anyway, Has anyone got any information on the following... William Davies/Davy who married Grace Bennet. Paul I have a tentative link from William to John Davy. There is a Roger Davy s/o John Davy of Paul who marries Anne Semmens/Symons- their descendants then seem to marry back into the Davies line through Bodinnar and Cotton. Any early information on William Davy and Grace Bennets etc would be appreciated! Meur ras why! M
