The answer i think is in the 1851 Census
Elizabeth 1782 St Just (nee Angwin) is living with sons William & Henry HO107; Piece: 1919; Folio: 330; Page: 35;
John & Elizabeth (nee Reynolds) are living with granddaughter Mary Hicks (age 5) John b 1773 St Buryan Elizth b 1777 Sancreed HO107; Piece: 1919; Folio: 217; Page: 1
From this I would surmise that John is the son of Thomas bap at St Buryan 1774 (IGI) Elizabeth the daughter of Thomas & Margery bap 1779 Sancreed (opc) They had some children bap at Sennen then seem to have moved to St Just. Margery Reynolds 1813 is the last definitely theirs but Jane 1815 could also be. I haven't worked out yet who Mary Hicks' parents were.
I think therefore the 1781 John who m Eliz Angwin must be the son of John & Jane (IGI) (nee Williams m 10 Dec 1773 opc)). Have you found his death/burial?
Hope this makes sense, does it tie in with your thoughts?

Further to that I have seen a tree that claims that John(1774) son of Thomas married Margaret Roberts at Paul in 1804. So maybe we need another one?
