I have been working through the 1891 census and came across some entries in St Just. I first found Elizabeth A. Quick, nee Nankervis, daughter of Samuel, living with her father at Boscaswell. Elizabeth was aged 37 and married. This made sense because she married William Hosking Quick on the 4th November 1883. I naturally assumed that William was away being a miner somewhere. Then in Princes Street I found a William H. Quick who seemed to fit the above missing William - but he was married to Martha and they had a young 5 month old son William James Quick. Then I thought back to Elizabeth and asked myself - why is she living on her own means when she has a husband? So I took a sneak peek at the 1901 census and found William and Martha Quick with six or so children now living out near Mylor way. But there was no Elizabeth A. Quick. Looking still at 1901 I found Samuel Nankervis still living at Boscaswell with his daughter Elizabeth Nankervis, now 48, and single - so she got dumped. So if Elizabeth A. was still married back in 1891, did William and Martha actually get married before 1891 as well? To that question I have no answer at the moment - but unless they ran away from Cornwall for a wee while I think that young 5 month old William James Quick may well have been of questionable parentage?? Hello Sarch
I think that the full name of the William involved is William Hosking Quick, son of William Quick and Margery Hosking and who was born at Sancreed near the end of 1858.
These are the notes that I have for the first marriage.

Afraid I have no answer for this just now. And there are several inconsistencies beginning with his birthplace of Morvah (as recorded in 1891) and then Sancreed (as recorded in 1901). And then in 1901 he has a son Richard G age 6. FreeBMD shows a Richard Garfield Quick born in the Penzance R.D. - but that was 1891 Brain is not working real well at the moment so I am going to have to do some pondering over this a little later.
