Hello everyone, see my motto below! ;D
I have just subscribed to a new service and have been able to tidy up a lot of 19th century material. Plus, one brickwall has come down only to reveal a mystery.... Need some help!
John Bramble born 1792 Lying in Hospital, Marylebone- turns up later in Penzance. For a good while I have had the feeling he was connected to the Penzance Brambles and I think I have been proven so. The Non-Parochial birth record gives him as being the son of
William Bramble and Elizabeth- parish of abode MADRON! Zap! Gotcha!
I also have sister Anne Bramble born 1788- this time parish of abode Burryan (sic). Later I have William Bramble born 1793- this time parish of abode is given as Marylebone however I am sure it's right because everything else fits including the mother's age.
William Bramble senior was a cordwainer, as was John Bramble. William Bramble junior seems to have stayed in London and is on the 1851 census as... guess what.. a cordwaner. The family then vanish from the census records, London, Cornwall, can't find them? Emmigrated perhaps?
John Bramble marries Elizabeth Wilson in 1814 at Madron. I also have an Anne Bramble who marries Benjamin Hawke at Madron in 1814- I am pretty sure this is the sister. Strangely, I can't find Benjamin Hawke and Anne on any census! Perhaps they emmigrated too?
Now, back to William Senior and Elizabeth.
I have a William Bramble born 1761, Madron- but the problem is he appears to marry Jane Paul, and I can find no record of a William Bramble and Elizabeth. Help?
Did Jane Bramble die? Did William Bramble elope? Does that perhaps explain why he turns up in London? Have I even got the right William Bramble here, and what is the connection with Burryan?
Any thoughts/help, would be appreciated as ever!
Thanks in advance,
M
