Hello all Another beta site from Familysearch maps.familysearch.org/Maps of all the parishes in Cornwall for 1851 (oh, also has the foreign English ones too ;D) Select Cornwall for county, then select either Parish, Civil Registration District, Diocese, Rural Deanery, Poor Law Union or Hundred. It is a beta site so there are a few glitches...........It sent me off to the Bay of Biscay at one stage Also this www.familysearch.org/eng/search/RG/frameset_rhelps.aspSelect "E" to look up what they have on England so far. Best regards HeatherC

This site (the FamilySearch maps page) still looks very useful.
Are there other resources for mapping the parishes of Cornwall that would be helpful for a beginner/intermediate researcher from afar?
It does look like parish boundaries were changing in the early/mid 19th century - new parishes created, old parishes split up. Any tips on where to find comprehensive descriptions of those changes?
(My primary area of interest, lately, has been the Camborne/Redruth/Gwennap area... Gwennap, in particular, appears to have been split over time?)

You may find the following link helpful. www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/CON/indexparsThere is a hyperlink for each Parish and a short description of the history of the Parish. I have not read right through this but it should give an indication of the original Parish from which a new Parish was formed along with the date. CT
