Hi everyone,
I found a site/page that listed names of people who had been brought to "justice" for the Prayer Book Rebellion of 1547, there were quite a few recognisable names on there including Richard Pearce/Piers(e)- I can't find the site/page anymore. Has anyone else come across it?
Thanks, M

From my search it appears the year was actually 1549. I have only had a brief search and cannot find the list you mention. However, if you do a Google search for "prayer book rebellion" or "prayer book rebellion convictions" you will find a number of interesting links. CT

Oops.... 1549! You're quite right! Annoying thing is that I DID find a list and now I can't for the life of me find the link!

Try the Google searches I suggested and there is a fair chance you will find your way to what you want.
Looks like quite a bit of detail in a few that I looked at briefly.

thanks for your very prompt responses. Some of the dates provided filled in a few blanks for me.
I was wondering if anyone has any background/derivation of the Edwards name - is it Saxon, Norman or Celtic? did immigration of the Edwards come from France, Wales or even Ireland? I know it is a very old area but I have a suspicion (very unfounded) that the Edwards may have been relatively more recent interlopers.
On another tack unrelated to Penwith but having in mind proximity does anyone have any leads on a group similar to yours for the Tavistock/Grenofen area. Another strand of the family (Elizabeth Robjohns/ Hannah Drake/ Samuel Hill) also immigrated to South Australia in mid 1800's from this area and married the Albert Edwards mentioned in my previous message.
thanks Bernie

my apologies - I now realise that I sent my message with a totally wrong heading - it should have been the "Edwards family".

So we are talking about Albert Edwards' second wife who, it would appear, was the widow of Albert's brother-in-law Joseph William MACKMAN/MACKINAN. I need some clarification here. In some records the name is MACKMAN and in others MACKINAN - could you please advise which is correct. Not sure about the Tavistock area but one of our other members may have some clues.

Bernie - I have located baptismal records for John Drake Hill and three of his siblings.
If you would like copies of the images please let me know and I will email them to you.

I can send you some images of the Tavistock area if you let me have your e-mail address.
