Not the old 'alias' problem again! I do not believe I have come across this particular family before and I must say that I am still yet to get my head around the 'alias' and its meaning/usage. But if James snr was known as 'alias Gendal' then it is difficult to see how it could be connected to his wife. Not going to be easy methinks. As for the proximity of the marriage and baptism dates - I wouldn't be too concerned about that at all! ;D I would almost go so far as to say that if the first baptism found for a family is more than twelve months after the marriage then start considering a baptism within months of that same marriage.

Here is a thought. I see what looks like a Jr. and Sr, with the James Davies (Jr) bapt. in May 1742/1743 and a marriage record for James (Sr.) and Elizabeth A. in February. No for the 1720 James Davies, could be James was out of the marriage at some point when the elder James was a child and Anne decided to use her maiden name rather than her dead or missing husbands. Thus the two James entries would be Jr. and Sr. rather than II and III. Need to find birth records for the middle James and a death or divorce record for the eldest James.
Just some thoughts but I could be stretching it a bit too far. Happy hunting.
