Lannanta - I will need to check back on this one but I seem to recall some mention of Charity quite some time back.
And I have not yet looked at the Camborne data apart that early foray in trying to identify Thomas of 1727.
Hmm - looking at the Census records I certainly do recall having some little discussion about this family a long time back.
There are some things of interest.
Firstly - Mary is recorded as 'Ind' in 1841 and, as you say, has what appears to be possibly her daughter with her.
And then Paul is at Gloucestershire with children Edward and Mary - and also a female servant, not born in County, by name of Charity Pearce.
I think that I suggested in early discussions that Charity might well be a sister-in-law.
It sems a little strange that Mary is back in Cornwall with a one-year-old daughter, Mary, left in Gloucestershire.
But this might add to the possibility that Charity was her sister.
From the West Briton there seems little doubt that it was this same Mary that died later in 1841 in Bristol.
There are not many of the name Paul Quick about and Paul was certainly in Gloucestershire earlier that year.
So then you add a couple of baptisms at Camborne.
Charity Jane Pryor Williams Quick would appear to be self-explanatory with Jane Williams being the name of Paul's mother.
But where do the names Charity and Pryor come from - in particular Pryor?
There seems evidence enough of Charity in the Pearce family which means Mary can be probably correctly linked.
The obvious solution might be that Mary's mother was a Charity Pryor.
BINGO - William PEARCE married Charity PRIOR at Phillack 5th July 1794.
So the eldest daughter has been blessed with a combination of the maiden names of her two grandmothers!
Now - is it possible that we have another Paul and Mary Quick to be considered?
I would say probably not but it may pay to keep the thought in the back of the mind for the time being.
The fact that Charity was baptised at Camborne suggests that the 1830 baptism would probably also belong - and we also have Paul described as an 'excise officer'.
So the question here is - to whom do the names William Arundel refer?
I will take a little time out from the other Quick stuff and look further into this situation but I do have one problem in particular!
Where did the name of ANNA come from?
She does not appear with Paul in the 1851 Census and I don't seem to have her in 1841.
And if she was born as late as 1843 then, with Mary having died in 1841, who was the mother?
I will follow through to see what I can find for them in Australia.
But I can tell you that Paul died at Ballarat in 1886 and both parents are recorded in the Death Index so we know exactly who he was.
Let me see what more I can find and I will post the results here.
