To save hunting back for the origins of this subject a new and short thread with a solution to an old problem! ;D A number of you will recall the dilemma quite some time back of four children being baptised at St Ives to James and Jane QUICK. None of us could find a possible marriage. Cornishmaid, in particular, and I think Londoner were involved in that hunt and I believe getting as frustrated as Lannanta and I. I think we all searched the whole of England with no positive results. Well the mystery is NOW SOLVED! thanks to a chance request to Newlyn who came back with what has proved to be the answer. I have checked information against both IGI and Phillimore and I can tell you that BOTH ARE WRONG! The marriage shown is:- Thomas Quick, of St Ives, married Jane Michel 12th May 1789 at Zennor From Newlyn and also from a check of the CFHS Marriage Index I can tell you now that this marriage was in fact:- JAMES Quick, of St Ives married Jane Michel So that old dilemma can be finally put to rest. In a post a few days ago I covered the identity of the James Quick who had married Susannah Lee at Maker. He was originally assigned as bp. 1760 son of James and Mary Quick by researchers many years ago. It is now possible that it was actually the man who married Jane Michel who was baptised in 1760 although there is still one more James Quick to find a home. Will be working further on this over the next week or so and will post updates as I find them. Hope this is clear enough to understand and thanks to those who put in the effort to try and find the answer. CT

CT Excellent work once again. I do not believe that I could have ever found that. Without jumping the gun I believe that the James who married Jane Michell at Zennor was the son of James and Mary Quick - the naming pattern fits to a tee. The sons Robert, Paul and John all common in the immediate family. Lannanta

Lannanta - I am thinking along those lines also however we still have two and possibly three James Quicks without a home and I want to be careful with the approach. Once I have finished reviewing St Ives I will be moving on to Zennor and Towednack and I should then have a much better idea of things. Also still need to 'get over' this revelation! ;D But suddenly many things start to fall into place and the picture becomes just that much clearer!
