Oops...... I completed the Surname thread before I saw this one!
Hi to all
I've just joined this website on the recommendation of Mary, my newly found relative. I live in Cambridgeshire, UK and I have been dabbling in genealogy for a whole 7 weeks and have uncovered some truly amazing discoveries. Amazing, in that time, because my late Mum (Lilian Francis) was an orphan and knew nothing of her background other than the details on her birth certificate but I have had some help from some lovely people on GR and quickly found my way around the use/ value of BMD certificates and census records.
I look forward to becoming part of the community and broadening my knowledge of this fascinating subject. My family roots are mainly in and around Penzance, St Michaels Mount, St Hilary (my name sake) Madron, Marrazian and family names are:-
Francis, Hill, Nicholls, Balch, Trembath, Jago, Ford, Calf
If anyone has any connections with the above, I'd love to hear from them!
Best wishes to all Hilary x

Welcome to Penwith Genealogy Hilary. Will look forward to your posts and do my best to give you a hand. And don't worry about getting things out of order - we are not really that formal here. This is about searching for and finding answers, giving a bit of help - and having a bit of fun along the way! CT

Thank you for the welcome Cornish! It's quite fitting that you are the first contact that I have received since Mary actually mentioned how helpful you are when we chatted on the phone earlier today! Happy Sunday to you. Best wishes Hilary

You are welcome Hilary. I try to help where I can and try to point people in the right direction so that they can enjoy the fruits of their own labours. And if it is a really hard query I like to get stuck in and find the answers. Don't like to be beaten but I do have a few that have stumped me - for now! Have posted a note for you in the other thread so we shall see what we can do from there. CT
