In the 1871 census I came across a Henry Quick and family living at Dawlish in Devon, but Henry was from St Ives, aged 69.
I am guessing that he was the lad baptised in 1801 at St Ives to Henry and Mary, but I do not know who they are at this stage.
Any ideas?

Most Peculiar Did not even have young Henry in my database and nor do I have a marriage for a Henry QUICK to a Mary! Even more interesting - IGI does not have a record for any Henry QUICK marrying anyone named Mary in Cornwall. In fact IGI shows only seven marriages between a Henry Quick and a Mary (discounting duplicated entries) for the whole of the British Isles. The closest match is this one:- Henry QUICK married Mary STEWARD 8th May 1787 at Kilmington, Devon And I also notice that the baptism of Henry in 1801 is the ONLY child baptised to Henry and Mary at St Ives. Also - given I never had Henry and Mary in my database is a fair indication that this is the only baptism to that family in Cornwall. In 1861 Henry is also at Dawlish with his wife Elizabeth (born Yarmouth) and five children of whom the eldest (Louisa age 24) was born in Ireland. And in 1851 the family is at Dawlish - Henry was in the Coast Guard Service. Daughter Louisa was born Co. Antrim, Port Muck (?) and was then the eldest of seven children. Cannot find him in 1841 so he may have been in Ireland at that stage. Looks like the above marriage 'almost must be' the one involved but it will take a fair amount of work to find the rest of the children and then work out just who the elder Henry was. All I can do for now. CT
