Docboy
You asked for the link between John Glasson QUICK, the last QUICK holder of Trevessa, and my family.
With the QUICK family the common connection is Paul QUICK and Wilmot CURNOW who were married in 1718 at Towednack.
My direct descendant from this couple was Paul QUICK who married Grace BERRYMAN in 1750 at Truro. Yours was his brother Robert QUICK who married Anne MICHELL in 1757 in Zennor.
My Paul and Grace had a son Paul QUICK who married his cousin Jane QUICK in 1773 at St Ives. Your Robert and Anne had a son James QUICK who also married a cousin, Elizabeth QUICK in 1790 at Towednack.
My 3rd great grandmother Wilmot was baptised at Towednack in 1787, daughter of the abovementioned Paul and Jane QUICK.
Your James and Elizabeth QUICK had a son James QUICK who married Mary GLASSON in Paul in 1821 and one of their sons was, of course, John Glasson QUICK.
OK, the GLASSON side Starting with your Mary GLASSON and going up in generations; dau of John GLASSON and Constance EDMONDS; this John being son of John GLASSON and Jane CORNISH; this John being son of John GLASSON and Jane DALE; this John being son of John GLASSON and Honour PERRY of Madron.
My side, Wilmot QUICK married Joseph GLASSON who was; son of John GLASSON and Christian UREN; this John being son of William GLASSON and Honour WALLISH; this William being son of Thomas GLASSON and Susanna TROUNSEN; this Thomas being son of John GLASSON and Honour PERRY of Madron.
Howz them apples?
I preferred to post this information as opposed to a PM in case it has any value to other members and guests.

Your quote.....
Please help me end the confusion (in my mind)
I have 2 John Glassons born about the same time (the 1680's)
1 married Jane Dale 1 married Dorothy Verant. This one I also had as the s/o John and Honor Perry, which by all accounts is wrong?
this is from the Geni site Chr November 1, 1685 Birthplace: Camborne, Cornwall, , England OPC site has res Gwinear. Death: Died May 18, 1752 in Camborne, Cornwall, England Immediate Family: Son of John Glasson and Katherine? Unknown Husband of Dorothy Dorcote Verrant Father of John Glasson; Robert Glasson; Dorothy Michell; Mary Glasson; Charles Glasson and 2 others Brother of Robard Glasson; Elizabeth (Elibathes) Glasson; William Glasson; Rebeckah Glasson and Gartheret (Gertrude) Glasson
If the last one is correct then I will have to do a bit of un and re connecting. Thanks Di

Di - do you have any idea of the geography of Cornwall??? If not, then I suggest that you perhaps spend some time learning where the Parishes are! Madron/Penzance is down the West towards Lands End whilst Camborne is up on the Coast East of Gwithian nad right by Illogan and Redruth. This little bit of knowledge should be a great start in identifying which John Glasson might be which. Also useful is the knowledge that the distance by road between Madron and Camborne is 15.8 miles, remembering of course that the roads 330 years ago which much different to what they are today! You also need to put the above information into context with the overall size/area of Cornwall. At its widest point (following the Tamar from Morwinstow in the North to St John in the South) is approximately 48 miles while the length (Lands End to the Tamar River, Devon border) is approximately 80 miles and in that area there are more than 230 Parishes. If you do not already have one I would also suggest you get yourself a few different types of map for Cornwall. The first would be a Parish Map - www.cornwall-opc.org/MAPS/parish_map.pdf - this one is useful but there are others which show the approximate boundaries of each Parish. The above link came from within this one which will give you a few more options for useful maps - www.cornwall-opc.org/MAPS/maps.php. That should help solve your dilemma. CT

Hello Di
Yes it is wrong. John, the son of John Glasson and Honor Perry married Jane Dale in Madron in 1711. I think it is fair to accept the following as applying to the family of John Glasson and Honor Perry and could be loosely considered the MADRON family, although as you can imagine this is only one section of it and it was found in many of the neighbouring parishes as well e.g. Towednack, Newlyn, Lelant and further west:
The other major Cornish family was centred around Crowan/Camborne/Gwinear and generally is the family centred around John Glasson and Dorothy Verrant. I have never found a piece of evidence to link the two Madron & Crowan etc families back beyond 1650 or so - including a DNA test between two individuals who could trace their ancestry back through the two separate families.... Saying that beware... just because an individual is found in a certain Parish does not mean that he was from that parish or even close to it. There are a number of Glassons who moved about - a lot.
There is in addition a number of other Glasson families that you need to just keep in the back of your mind. There were Irish Glassons, as well as a number of very early Glassons around the cities such as London.
So you know that you are related to John Glasson and Dorothy Verrant. I know that there are a lot of members of this family that are still to be identified as to where they fit in... so I am saying that I do not believe that there has been enough research done on your Crown etc Glassons to believe everything that is published. I think you need to start with the earliest Glassons that you can clearly prove are related to you. Then you need to start back researching each individual as you go and put them into their rightful place. While you can use published research for guidance you must make your own research to prove every connection. There are too many John, William, Marys etc to think for a minute that it will be simple and to believe that they have already been put in their correct places. It will take a lot of time believe me.
Best of luck
Lannanta
