In the 1841 and 1851 census John and Mary Quick are farming at Gunew in Lelant, although John is from Towednack originally. My first thought was - which family doies he come from - and I convinced myself that it was probably William Quick and Catherine Osborn who married 1800 in Zennor. But when I found John in the 1861 census (he was now 55 years old and in Phillack) he had five newish children aged from 11 years to 4. But Mary I found living elsewhere and she is 72 years old at this time. Maybe the 55 year old farmer at Phillack is not the same man? Maybe the servant Ann Glasson is more than a servant if you know what I mean? Then again, when you look in 1871 he is back again at Gunew with this young family, more additions, and still Ann Glasson the servant. He says that he is married but good old Mary is not in the house. She is living in Nancledry by herself aged 82. 1881 I see - he was waiting for good old Mary to pop off. Ms Glasson has just become Mrs Quick. Well well well.

I knew it as I was writing it - something kept nagging me that this all seemed familiar. It is a consequence of later years and far too much on my mind. Thanks anyway mate.

I know exactly how you feel mate, don't worry! Need to review St Ives and see what is left I think. There is certainly still the issue of James and Susannah and there is at least one Matthew that I can think of plus a few of the girls who married but for whom I have not yet found a home. Paul is probably largely done courtesy of the links back to St Ives. I also think that I have the areas West very much covered now but that will also need reviewing. I think once this is done we should probably get Towednack and Zennor sorted. There are still some issues with Zennor in the earlier period before about 1710 - particularly involving the Will of Matthew OSBORN as I recall. What do you think?

CT
At the moment I am working through the 1841, 51 and 61 census and transferring information from there to my family history programme (LEGACY). I am hoping that once I have done that those left will be a little bit more easy to find their rightful place. It should take me another couple of weeks.
I will send you a revised spreadsheet with all the known entries coloured in and maybe you could have a look and see if there are any more you have a home for? It would be nice if we could combine our resources and deal with the unknowns one at a time. It may be that we will need to view some old records or the like.
Once I have dealt with the bulk of the QUICKs I would like to get back to the GLASSONs which is where I started some years ago.
