Well, I think I have found the family through 1841 to 1871, although John's age keeps changing with each census
.
In 1841 at Chyenhall, Paul we have the following members of the Wallis family:
John age 40 - Ag Lab; Elizabeth age 30; John age 9, William age 7, James age 3, Jane age 5months, and Mary age 7.
In 1851 they are at Oakhill, St Buryan, surname spelt Wallish:
John age 60, Ag Lab; Elizabeth, age 43 (born St Just); James age 13; Elizabeth age 6; Jane age 5 and Byas? age 3 (born St Buryan) Apart from Elizabeth and Byas the rest of the family were born at Paul.
In 1861 the family are back at Chyenhall Moor in Paul:
John age 52, Ag Lab; Elizabeth age 50; Elizabeth age 18 - Dairy Maid; James age 22 - Ag Lab; Mary age 9.
(No sign of Byas or Jane.)
Son James then gets married on 4 March 1865, ie:
James Wallish, 28, Labourer of Mousehole (mark) (Father: John Wallish, Labourer)
Elizabeth Ann Kevern, 24,of Mousehole (Father: James Kevern, Labourer)
Witnesses: Thomas Eddy, Margaret Kevern
So in the 1871 at Clifton Place, Paul are:
James Wallis, age 39, Labourer; Elizabeth J age 30, wife
with children: John J, age 4 and William age 1 (both born at Mousehole). With the family are Elizabeth Keveren, Mother in law, Widow, age 53, Fish Buyer and Lilla Botherias, Visitor, age 8 months.
I think I have also found James' mother Elizabeth in the 1871 census at Maddron Square, St Just with the Atticote family, ie James age 28, Tin Miner; Ann age 28; Ann W age 7 and Liley age 1. Elizabeth is listed as mother in law, Widow, age 61, born St Just.
Would need to find James Atticote's marriage to confirm he married a Wallish. If this is the right Elizabeth Wallis, then husband John must have died between 1861 and 1871. There are a number of deaths registered between these dates, as follows:
December Qtr 1861/September Qtr 1864/September Qtr 1865 - no ages given.
December Qtr 1866, age 77 (b. 1789c.)
March Qtr 1868, age 81 (b. 1787c.)
John William Wallis, died Sept Qtr 1870, age 66 (b. 1804c.)
Not much help I suppose with John changing his age on each census
Any good?
