I have a Jane Quick, probably but not definitely, from Zennor. The information that I have (gleaned from another relative, so not sure of original source) is:
Born 1774, Died 1821.
Married Thomas Osborne in 1796
Five children: James, John, Jane, Thomas, Matthew
What I don't have is any information on her parents or siblings.
Having had a quick look over these boards, am hoping that the Osborne/ Quick connection might coincide with someone's else data?
Very grateful for any information!

Hi
Cornish Terrier is the achnowledged expert on the QUICK family, however he seems to be away celebrating his birthday somewhere at the moment. Hopefully I can help a little.
The Jane QUICK who married Thomas OSBORNE was from Towednack, even though the marriage was at Zennor there was a note attached stating that Jane was from Towednack.
Saying that, then the only Jane baptised in 1774 in Towednack was the daughter of Paul and Jane QUICK - both of whom were QUICKs in their own right. Paul the son of Paul QUICK and Grace BERRYMAN; and Jane the daughter of James QUICK and Mary CURNOW.
I do suggest however that you wait and see if Cornish Terrier agrees with my assumptions.
Kind regards
Lannanta

I am back and will be trying to look at all queries (and answer what I can) after work tonight. However - I agree with Lannanta on the identity of your Jane Quick. Although I did a lot of work on the Quicks from Zennor and Towednack some years ago, I am yet to properly revisit that work and make any revisions that may have become necessary. There is also some BDM information that I am going to require to help me complete that work but I will advise of that (hopefully) tonight. Should my Internet Connection remain stable for a while (that was the cause of my absence again - NOT HEADACHES ) I will put in a concerted effort to get all those Quicks sorted. As for your Jane - I think it was she who was buried at Zennor 10th June 1821, age 47, of Trewithy. Until later tonight.

Firstly I forgot to mention that Thomas and Jane Osborn had two further children - Nancy bp. Zennor 16th May 1802 and Mary bp. Zennor 25th February 1810. Secondly - there were actually two marriages involving a Paul Quick to a cousin Jane Quick. The one involved here happened at St Ives 28th December 1773 with other information as above. The early one happened sometime around or before 1691 with their daughter Jane baptised in 1694 as Amy stated. But her 'fate' was not, as far as my research has shown, to be the Jane who married John Ninnes. That particular Jane was baptised at Towednack 26th April 1696 and was daughter of Matthew QUICK and Sarah MAJOR. Although they did not name a son Matthew they did most certainly have two daughters named Sarah. Along with the fact they also never named a son Paul this was one of the things that convinced me that it was the daughter of Matthew and Sarah who married John Ninnes. As yet I do not know what happened to the daughter of Paul and Jane but will be working on that line again quite soon I should think. Ian.

There is a record for a Jane Quick marrying John Cornish 30 April 1716 in Towednack. At age 22 this date certainly works as does the place.
I'm wondering CT whether this matches up with any other research since this 2008 post?

Jane Quick married JOSEPH Cornish at Towednack 30th April 1716.
There were five children from this marriage all baptized at St Hilary. Three daughters named Dorcas and a daughter Elizabeth were all shortlived with none lasting 12 months. The only surviving child was the eldest, a son named Joseph baptized in 1718. Joseph Cornish was baptized at Germoe in 1688 to Thomas Cornish and Dorcas (nee Orchard).
Jane wife of Joseph Cornish was buried at St Hilary in 1725 after which Joseph remarried in at St Winnow in 1728 to his sister-in-law Elizabeth Quick (1704 Towednack daughter of Paul).

Three daughters named Dorcas and a daughter Elizabeth were all short-lived with none lasting 12 months. Another particularly sad history. Dorcas #1 baptised 14 May 1721 and buried three days later.
The longest living of the daughters appears to be Dorcas #2 who was baptised 5 Aug 1772 and then buried 2 Jun 1773.
Then there are twins Dorcas #3 and Elizabeth baptised 19 Jun 1774. Sadly Elizabeth is subsequently buried 9 July while Dorcas #3 was buried 27 Jul 1774. This must have been a traumatic experience for Jane & Joseph.
Then to compound things Jane is buried 11 July 1725. It certainly begs the question whether she died trying to give birth once more? We'll never know - but what we do know being a mother could be a very risky business indeed.
