Okay girls - so you really want to play the Michael Curnow game, huh.
Well, at least I can come up with some that did not marry Elizabeth. ;D
First one started having children at Towednack in 1815 and his wife was named MARGARET.
However, I am yet to find the marriage so would appreciate some help on that one.
But the second one is probably a little more of interest for now given your recent postings.
Michael CURNOW
m. 26th March 1824 Towednack (wit: Paul Curnow)
Sarah Baragwanath ROACH
Our problem here is that the information I have from many years ago said that HE was the son of Hannibal and Kitty.
Looking at the names of his kids I certainly have my doubts and also this bloke was a miner.
He had eight kids that I am aware of all baptised at Towednack.
Now, when I read the posting about the marriage to Elizabeth MATTHEWS I first suspected that this might be the same bloke with a second marriage.
But, alas, 'twas not to be.
His last known child was baptised in 1838 and Sarah is alive and kicking in the 1841 Census at Halsetown, St Ives. (Children were Michael, Thomas, Margaret, Paul and Sarah.)
The problem we have here is a plethora of marriages for Michael Curnows but a dearth of Michael Curnows.
BTW - Michael's age in 1841 is 35. (No much help, but a guide.)
In fact I really don't think he belongs to Hannibal and Kitty.
It makes much more sense for the Coast Guard man to belong there given there was another son in that family who was also a Coast Guard man - William bp. 12th April 1799 at Penzance.)
And here's another one for you.
Michael CURNOW m. Blanch EDWARDS at Towednack in 1774.
Blanch apparently buried at Towednak 1st August 1831 age79.
(I would like that burial date confirmed please as it may impact on some things here.)
<----------Michael was buried at Towednack 1st March 1838 (but I do not have his age**) 'of Skillywadden'.
His Will was written in 1834 and proved 7th September 1840.
(Don't know if I have a copy of this or not - I don't think so.)
Michael apparently remarried after Blanch died. My information has it that, in his Will, he named his wife as ELIZABETH.
Why I need tha burial date for Blanch checked is because it is so close (albeit after) to the date that a Michael Curnow married Elizabeth Matthews.
Bottom line is that we could be looking for yet another marriage between a Michael Curnow and an Elizabeth.
But, apart from finding the required data on Elizabeth Simons, we have another dilemma to solve.
Who was the Michael Curnow that married Sarah Baragwanath Roach.
Off to do a little more investigating and then I might see if I can sort out my Robert QUICK/Catherine TREWHELLA problem. ;D
