Most Trengove (and others') problems stem from the fact that the Perranarworthal Registers are all lost for years prior to 1739.
Bishop's Transcripts exist for 1684 ff, but these don't seem to be complete. Only one or two bits prior to 1684 exist.

Mark - I know this problem only too well. Parish Registers for the Isles of Scilly now exist pretty much only from about (I think) 1724. This has made life quite difficult in one particular case although Kathie and I, some years ago, worked through the problem and believe we have come to the right conclusion. Our problem lay with the Will of James Trewheela whose Will was dated January 26th, 1699, Isles of Scilly. Fortunately James' Will was fairly comprehensive and named two brothers and inferred the relationships of other people (Trewheela and married females) which enabled us to fit the pieces together with the help of what other documented evidence was available. Your case is also similar to Zennor and Towednack where not much survives from the early days except for scattered BT's. If you have not already done so I would suggest you pursue the A2A Catalogue using any variation of the name you can think of (or use wildcards) and see what can be found in the Manorial Records and Estate Deeds and Leases. (Search on your name should bring up entries for all the above.) Also check out the Cornwall Record Office site for which CornishMaid has provided a link and see what you can find there. And also remember to check every avenue of Wills and Admons. as you can find interesting stuff there. Remember to not rely on a Will for the person you are looking for but rather the mention of this person in another Will. All you need do ( is look at any Will for Perranaworthal (or any other Parish you are interested in) to see if your person might rate a mention in any way. I have found many of my own stuff by doing this. ;D First step maybe would be to check Kathie's original web-site which has links from here and check through her lists of Wills and Admons. Also get to her homepage and search down for 'Dee's St Erth Homepage' where you will find many more abstracts of Wills and Admons.
