The following snippets are all from the St Ives Weekly Summary. Don't know if they are any use to anyone... 26 December 1891 edition: Death - Uren. December 19th at the Warren, St Ives, Mrs Fanny Uren, aged 79. 23 January 1892 edition: Fatal Accident to a St Ives Sailor in Ireland. (NB: Didn't transcribe the whole article, but the basics are as follows.) William Uren, of Gabriel Street, was a sailor on board the SS Scotharley, of Cork. He lost his balance on a plank and fell into the hold. He suffered concussion, injuries to the head, and a fractured collar bone. He never regained consciousness except to say he was from St Ives. He leaves a widow and 2 children, and was interred in the local Cemetary at Cork. 30 January 1892 edition: Death - Uren. January 27th at Burrow Road, Clement, son of Mr J H Uren, age 6 months. 14 April 1911 edition: Marriage - Pearce-Uren. Lelant Parish Church, April 9th, by license by the vicar Rev W R Erskine, Mr Frank Pearce to Miss Matilda Uren of St Ives.

Good work again m'dear. Not of immediate use to me - but it will be in the future given I have a number of Uren connections. I am sure, though, that others will pounce upon this information and help get this thread going.

A look-up request for a Uren marriage for those of you who have access to Crowan records. I believe more than one member recently said they had acquired Phillimore & Taylor for Crowan. 21st September 1789 at Crowan Thomas UREN Catherine LAITY I need to know what further details are contained in the Marriage record as I believe this man was from Lelant. This is the only marriage appearing in IGI for a Thomas Uren to a Catherine so should be the one I am after but I require confirmation. Thomas was the father of Richard Uren who married Phillis TREWHELLA at Lelant in 1833. Thanks to anyone who can help with this one. Ian

Thankyou me luvvly you have stepped into the breah once more with outstanding success. Have about finished as much as I can do on the 'miscreant' John Quick line although I expect bits and pieces to be added as I work through the other families. But one of his illegitimate sons may have saved the best until the end of the Century. Leonard Quick named a son:- BADEN POWELL MAFEKING QUICK Thanks again - must trot off and see if I can rake up any more scandal in the Quick family. ;D
