Hello,
Anyone that can help me find information wherein I can make an accurate connection with my Quick forebears, I would be greatly appreciative.
John Thomas Quick, my 4th grandfather who married Elizabeth Clise (Klietz), has arguable birth dates and locations. If he is Pvt. John Thomas Quick, born in Virginia Colony, who fought in the American Revolution, then he lived from 1763-1831; this is substantiated by the will of said John Thomas. However, other sources state that the John Thomas Quick in question lived from 1730-1831 and was born in Waterfort (probably Waterford, Ireland or possibly Waterford, New Jersey), in which he would have lived to be 101 years old (unlikely, to say the least). The preponderance of sources all state that his parents were John Quick (abt 1653-1732) from Zennor, Cornwall and Jane Morrish (1666-1736); they married in Gulval in April of 1680. It's impossible that they could be the parents of John Thomas who fought in the American Revolution and as for the Thomas' birth date being 1730, it would still make Jane giving birth at age 64, another huge stretch. As I firmly believe from all the evidence that John Quicke and Jane Morrish are indeed my direct ancestors, I just need to find the connection to John Thomas, my grandfather. It is likely that there are at least one or two ancestors in between John Quicke born 1653 and John Thomas Quick born either 1730 (and especially if born in 1763) unaccounted for.
I've located many of the descendants of John Quicke and Jane Morrish, including John Quick and wife Ann Vibert; I don't know if these could be the missing parents, as I cannot find a child of theirs who could be the possible parent. If anyone can give me helpful information, I'd be ecstatic. I've long been enamored of Cornwall and plan to visit this May. How wonderful if I knew for certain of authentic roots. Thanks so much.
Dianne
