Need help to find information about Mary Philps Matthews who was bap 1872 and was the daughter of William John Matthews and Ann Philps Berryman also would like information about William John Matthews who was bap 1873 and was her her brother. There was a sister called Maria who I believed died but I don't remember where I found that information at the moment. William John Matthews, their father bap 1850 at Paul and he was the son of John and Betsy Beadon Matthews. I have decided to return to the John and Betsy Beadon Matthews tree and do as many of the branches and their descendents as possible. I can't find any information about Elizabeth bap 1844 the daughter of John and Betsy Matthews. I have found spouses for her brothers and sisters.

Genie - I suggest you start by using the OPC site to find records of the baptisms, marriages and burials and then go to the Census. I have the marriage of William and Ann in my database but have never pursued the family further. The OPC site has baptisms for three children - Annie Maria 1870, Mary Philip 1872 and William John 1873 - and the transcripts will show whatever detail was in the Parish Register. If you check these and then find the family in the 1881 Census it will give some clues to help you find the death/burial of Maria (Annie Maria). The 1891 and 1901 Census should then help you pin down when the other children might have married.
For the earlier generation of John and Betsy you will find baptisms for 10 children in the OPC records. All children, including those of William and Ann, appear to have been baptized at Paul and once again the Census will start to give you clues about what happened to Elizabeth.

I had found the family in various census's hence the posting. The problem was when they both disappeared. Digging around I have found a marriage for a Mary Philps Matthews to either Frederick Charles Peak or Andrew Lawry in 1896,but as yet i can't find her in 1901. In 1901 there is a William J Matthews living with his wife Ursula and child at Zennor. Whether he is the person I am looking for I don't know.Their marriage was in 1898 and her surname was Michell.

I found Frederick C Peak in the 1901 Census with wife Annie N (Annie Newton Tucker) so Mary Philp Matthews must have married Andrew Lawry. Unfortunately I have not been able to find this particular Andrew Lawry in 1901.
William J Matthews (snr) and wife Annie were at Little Trye in Gulval in 1901 but only servant Annie Hall was with them.
Re William J Matthews and wife Ursula at Zennor in 1901 - William was born at Paul about 1873/4 according to the Census. A brief check of Baptisms indicates only one William J Matthews born at Paul around that time and he was the son of William John and Ann Philip Matthews. That then suggests that the husband of Ursula is the man you are looking for.
AHA!! - the reason you cannot find Mary Philp Lawry in 1901 is that she was already deceased!!
Mary Philip Lawry of Lady Downs age 28 buried 21st October 1899 at Zennor

Some additions to my last in view of having found the burial of Mary Philp Lawry.
I have now found Andrew Lawry in 1901 with his new wife Elizabeth Edwards who he married in 1900. With them is a son John Andrew Lawry who as his birth was registered in the June Qtr of 1898 must have been a son from the first marriage to Mary Philp Matthews.
