FATAL BLASTING ACCIDENT.
A fatal blasting accident occurred at the South Blocks mine to-night resulting in the death of one man and the injury of another. A couple of hours after the afternoon shift went in Thomas Ninnes, aged 25, and William Richards, aged 24, were boring out an old hole 60 ft., below the 100-ft level in No. 3 shaft when an explosion occurred. Ninnes was killed outright, and Richards terribly cut about the hands and chest. A third man, E. Watts, belonging to the party, happened to be away on the level at the time working the windless, and both escaped. Both Ninnes and Richards were single. Richards was in great pain, and was removed to the hospital.

So now we get back to George NINNES who would have been born somewhere around the 1800’s. There are two possibilities – both born at Towednack - George, born to George NINNIS & Mary on 10 April 1808 OR George born to William NINNIS & Christian on 8 Jan 1809.
Corrections to the above or additional info (ship & date of arrival in AUS) welcomed, with thanks.
