Dear List
I've been researching the Dumble family of St Ives, and would like to find the identity of Samule James, who married Sarah Veale Dumble. William Dumble's 2nd marriage to widow Sarah Old (nee Veale) in 1837, in Falmouth, produced a daughter Sarah Veale Dumble, born in 1839, in St Ives. She was baptised late, on 14 Dec 1845, St Ives, with a parish register note that she was born in 1838.
Sarah Veale Dumble married Samuel James on 28 Oct 1860, St Ives. Samuel James was 22, a bachelor, schoolmaster of St Ives (father Samuel James, Game keeper). Witnesses were William Dumble and Thomas Williams.
In the 1861 Census, he and Sarah were living with her parents at Tregenna Place, St Ives: Samuel James, son-in-law, age 23, National Schoolmaster, born Leigh On Mendip, Cornwall, wife Sarah S., age 22, and their son William S. 1 month, born St Ives. Googling, I found Leigh on Mendip is in Somerset. I was unable to find them in the 1871 or 1881 Census, and they may have emigrated.
Would anyone have reseached this family, or be able to help me with placing Samuel James family?
Many thanks for any help available. Kind regards, Rowena, in Melbourne

Many thanks Sarch and Lamora,
That's really clear, and helpful. Also great to have the Frome OPC adrress, as Sarah's mother died in Frome, so looks liek she may have gone to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Great, now I know where to search for this couple. Kind regarrds, Rowena

In the 1861 census Samuel, Sarah and son William age 1 month were living with William and Sarah Dumble at Tregenna Place, St Ives. In the 1871 census it was just William and Sarah Dumble.
