On the Bond side, my GGGGrandfather was John Thomas Bond, 1803-1882, father of Henry Bond, 1825-1882, who was in turn father to another John Thomas Bond (I believe 1847-1905), father of my grandmother Evelyn Bond. I know the "Greats" emigrated to Canada from the Cornwall area and settled there. I also know my GGrandfather, John Thomas, a circus wire-walker who ended up marrying (twice, first wife died) and raising a large family in Greenville, TX, USA, traveled at least twice to meet with his brothers in one of the far north states like Michigan or Minnesota.
We had much trouble connecting the dots of the original John Thomas Bond's parents, so the info about his illegitimate status was a tremendous help. Explains why our family photos identified his wife as "Mary Elizabeth Thomas Bond" rather than simply "Mary Elizabeth Bond."
One interesting thing that surprises me: John Thomas Bond (b. 1803), his wife, Mary Elizabeth Thomas Bond (b.1808), and their son, Henry (b. 1825) ALL died in 1882. Is there anyone on the Canadian or UK side of things who might be able to tell why? Some kind of epidemic?
Thanks, because all of this is not only helping us figure out our Bond families, but is also fascinating!

Hi there! I am chagrined to have only now seen your post, as I didn't see the "Next" button to the second page! It is exciting to learn that John Thomas the younger had brothers in MI or MN. I knew only of 2 children of Henry, William H. b. ~1846 and John T. b. ~1848. In fact I have been unable to find Henry's family after the 1851 UK Census and wondered if he had emigrated like his siblings. (I've been researching my Bond side lately and hope to soon put up a post at the Ludgvan board.) Did you know John Thomas the younger performed under the stage name The Professor? (found it by googling). He's the closest I've come so far to having a famous ancestor (John Thomas Bond the elder was my GGGGrandfather too, I think we are 4th cousins.)
