a William TREWHELA has turned up in the Maritime Surveys of Devon and Cornwall The 1626 survey for St.Hilary lists a fisherman, William TREWHELA age 50. Ages do appear to be rounded off to the nearest 10. May be of some use to someone!

G'day Mike - this is probably the same William Trewhela mentioned in a book called 'Early Stuart Mariners 1622' (or something similar)
It may also have been that book that mentioned his son - also William.
Very difficult to find much about the family in that area so early so any snippets like the above are most welcome.

Spot on CT ;D you should be on Mastermind. Yes the book is entitled "Early Stuart Mariners and Shipping, the maritime surveys of Devon and Cornwall 1619-1635" William is the only TREWHELA mentioned Happy fishing Mike, basking in a positively tropical 2 degrees (well it is after the minus 10's etc)
