Hello everyone,
I have just pinned down a family grave at Paul. I think it must be at Sheffield Road Cemetery- the only one not online to my knowledge! I don't even know if this grave will still be there but according to my Gran "they were all buried up there at Paul". Although I know of others interred at Madron and Gulval this has left me rather intrigued as my elusive ancestor was supposedly born at Paul. Is there any way of finding a list or doing a search. I looked on CFHS to see if they have a publication but they don't appear to.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Malcolm

I had a question about Sheffield Road Cemetery only a few days ago.
Apparently there is a published book of the burials there and I believe it should be available through CFHS.
From Genuki:-
•The Cornwall Family History Society have published Monumental Inscriptions for: ◦The Parish Church - 1495 entries. ◦Cholera Cemetery - 350 entries. ◦Sheffield Road Cemetery - 5026 entries •War Memorial inscriptions for Paul parish are separately available.

Oh.... didn't see that when I looked on their site! I'll check again.
Newlyn, who is that, the OPC?

No I don't think they are anything to do with the OPC.
I believe they live around Paul.
Bob Harrison has done a lot of work about war memorials. They sent me some info a couple of years ago about my relatives who are buried at Sheffield cemetery. Worth getting in touch with.

The following site also gives details of those named on Paul War Memorial. www.paulchurch.co.uk/memorials.htmThe William James Harvey who died on active service 17th November 1918 aged 29 is my maternal grandfather. Best wishes, Mary

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll send a message to the person Newlyn suggested. As for the war memorial, in none way or another I am probably related to most of the people on it as the surnames are all there and we know the rest.... Fortunately on that side of the "closer" family there was to my knowledge only one fatality in the First World War, Able Seaman Arthur Vingoe who was commemorated on another memorial I believe.
