Would some kind soul with access to the 1901 census be able to look up someone for me please? Pretty please In the 1911 I have the following family, living in Virgin Street: Charles Rowe, age 53 - but I'm sure this should be 43! Fisherman Rebecca Rowe, age 43, Wife Daughters Thomasine Rowe, age 19 and Rebecca Rowe, age 2; and son Charles Rowe, age 2. I believe this couple to be Charles Rowe and Rebecca Paul, who married in Penzance RD in June Qtr of 1891. All the family were born in St Ives according to the 1911. (I believe Charles was the son of Charles Rowe and Thomasine Penberthy.) It would be great to know if they had any other children. Many thanks

Thank you, that's brilliant. Charles' age was definitely transcribed wrongly in the 1911 then, which is a relief

Nice to see you getting involved Marion. Unfortunately this is a different Thomasine Rowe and would be much too old. Charles and Thomasine Rowe were still living at Virgin Street, St Ives in 1901 and Thomasine was then age 67. CT

A very interesting family this one of Charles Rowe! Charles was born about 1839/40 at St Ives and Thomasin baptised in 1834 at St Ives. Included in the household in the 1881 Census is the following who is recorded as a SON:- Benjamin Penberthy Rowe age 24 born St Ives So he was born about 1856 which is about five years before Charles and Thomasin were married and when Charles would have been about 17. Go back to 1871 and there is no Benjamin but there is another SON:- John A Rowe, son, age 19, born St Ives When he was born it was 10 years prior to the marriage and Charles would have been age 10 or 1! Something a little fishy in St Ives Harbour methinks! AHA! - a trawl through St Ives Baptisms has produced at least one answer! On August 10th 1864 at St Ives are the following interesting baptisms:- Benjamin PENBERTHY son of Thomasin (born December 4th, 1856) Charles ROWE son of Charles and Thomasine (born July 27th 1864) The question now is whether or not Charles Rowe was actually the father. It is highly unlikely Charles would have been the father of John but he just might have been in the case of Benjamin. In both 1871 and 1881 Charles was the 'head of household' and in the respective years both boys were recorded as his sons. CT

CT, I thought at first the death might have been Thomasine Penberthy Rowe but agree due to the age at death this one does not fit the bill..
