Gandolf - on reviewing some of my data I have to say that you must be some sort of sadist! ;D
I spent a very long time working on this family a number of years ago.
AND I still bear the SCARS!
Amongst the documents I had to work with were numerous transcribed Wills of the STEVENS/STEPHENS families and, whilst there are still gaps and queries, I am as confident as might be possible that the bulk of the conclusions are correct.
But these are not all my own conclusions!
Although I had started working on these families myself I received the transcribed Wills along with other data, including descendant charts, from another researcher.
What I did was to try and work carefully through every document and chart to verify or dispute conclusions and, where necessary, to offer alternative solutions or corrections.
I will not name my correspondent - but should that person read this I would like it noted that I acknowledge the work they have done and appreciate greatly the information that was provided to me to work with/from.
You think the QUICK family has been difficult?
The Inventory of the estate of Thomas STEVENS als GENEWE took place 23rd July 1673 and was performed by Thomas SPRIGGE and Richard HICKS of St Ives.
In other documents relating to the estate is the Obligation naming as Administrator Thomas STEPHENS, the eldest son and which was signed by Thomas STEPHENS, tinner of St Ives, Thomas OLLIVER, yeoman of Phillack, Mathew TREWHEELA, tinner of Zennor and Johem STEPHENS, tinner of St Ives.
This document was dated 26th July 1673.
Another document dated 14th July 1674 reads, in part, "Consented by all the brothers & sisters husband that the allotment say .... Thomas STEPHENS, John STEPHENS, Francis STEVENS, Mary the wife of Andrew ROSWALLS"
I think that largely answers the questions.
Francis STEVENS als Gonew left a Will dated 28th September 1718 which, whilst not mentioning siblings or their children, does offer this:-
" ... unto Willmot my daughter being now the wife of James ROWE of the parish of St Levan ... yeoman ..."
I have transcripts of the bulk of the early Wills of the Stevens families of St Ives and can refer to them to answer many of your current or forthcoming queries.
But I have also worked carefully through said Wills when piecing together the families and relationships.
This does not help to positively identify the Elizabeth ROSEWALL who married Paul STEVENS but is certainly helpful all the same.
This is far too complicated to continue at this hour so.
I will need to read through all documents again and refamiliarize myself with the families involved and that may take time.
I will do my best to keep up with this and offer what answers I can but I must also balance my time with other queries.
Will try and have a little more tomorrow.
