From the General Evening Post (London), Saturday, March 1, 1735
WHEREAS on Monday 17th of February last, John NICHOLLS of the Parish of Ludgvan, in the County of Cornwall, Inn keeper was barbarously murdered by Christopher VELLNOWETH , of the same Parish, and the said Christopher Vellnoweth is fled for the same, and as 'tis apprehended with a Design to Transport himself beyond Sea, he having been formerly in the Sea Service. This is to acquaint the Publick, that the said Christopher Vellnoweth is a man about 27 Years of Age, thick well sett, about 5 feet 9 Inches High, of a swarthy, frowning Look, with a Mole on his left Cheek, and a particular sink in his Gate; and that the said Parish of Ludgvan, Will pay all Charges for apprehending the said Christopher Vellnoweth, and Conveying him to a Gaol, that shall be allowed to any two Justices of the Peace; which whoever apprehends him may be more particularly assur'd, by writing to Mrs. FUDGE, Postmistress in Marazion, Cornwall.

Oh bugger!!! I think I may be related to Christopher Vellenoweth!!! Especially if he is descended from Thomas Vellenoweth of Ludgvan, born c1540!!! I haven't yet been able to do much research on this elusive family..... I certainly seem to have some rogues though!!! One of my Tonkins being envolved in a witch trial in the Cromwellian period!!!

Christopher VELLENOWETH bp. 17th February 1708 Ludgvan s/o Thomas Parents are probably:- Thomas VELENOWETH m. Honor MICHELL 5th December 1702 at Ludgvan Reckon this could be the man. Wonder if that reward is still valid. ;D
