From The Bristol Mercury, Saturday, August 28, 1869GENERAL NEWSMr. Warren, a retired farmer at Madron, Cornwall, died on Thursday, leaving alive 14 children, 66 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. Deceased age was 87. From the Cornwall OPC Site - Burials Parish: Madron *Date: 18 August 1869* Name: William WARREN Age: 87 Residence: Parc An Growes *I believe the newspaper report has the date wrong in this case (they made his death after his burial !!!). The Bristol Mercury picked local interest stories up from other newspapers and I have seen cases where they printed word for word these forwarded reports that appeared a week previous...... In this case the death of William on Thursday 12 August and burial the following Wednesday, 18 August.

John Warren married Margaret Lawry 2.2.1777
William Warren married Susanna Olivey of Madron 8.4.1776
William Warren married Mary Eddy 24.4.1775
Any good for your brick wall?

A long time since I looked at this problem but, in light of some searching regarding another query, an interesting point has been made here.
In this case the search is for William WARREN born at Paul c.1781.
A couple of nights ago I tried a search for another man who is recorded as having been born in Paul - Andrew LEAH born c.1783.
It is most interesting that these events are only a couple of years apart so I must wonder if there might be a problem with the Paul PRs.
I know there is a similar problem at St Ives about the early 1790's and hence no baptism can be found for Sampson QUICK amongst others I have looked for.

I cant help with William Warren or Andrew Leah but have noted we are musing over Madron. Having read CT's note I did look at the breakdown of baptisms on the igi for Paul parish in the years 1781-1783 thus: Month J F M A M J J A S O N D total 1781 6 0 4 3 7 4 6 6 2 2 4 4 49 1782 4 10 5 9 3 7 9 10 4 8 6 5 83 1783 7 3 1 9 4 3 0 3 6 3 1 6 46 This is a little exercise I have used in the past, especially when I'm not feeling very awake, and it often shows up potential gaps in the registers. For example above February 1781 and July 1783 have no baptisms, several months only 1. This may be indicative of illegible sections in the registers. The totals for the year may also suggest gaps. Why so many more in 1782? Food for thought, with which I must say goodnight to Norah Jones and wrap up warm. Best wishes to everyone out there
