Gandolf - What No Comment
Looks like there may have been no children to the marriage of James ROSEWALL and Sarah Jane either.
Re the identity of Elizabeth MARTINS - I really think we need to hold off on this one until we can get hold of the marriage record to determine whether or not she was a spinster at the time.
Son Thomas cannot be found in the UK in the 1861 Census or any after and I cannot find him in Wales.
There is also no sign of him in Victoria.
But he 'may' have been married.
In 1860 Penzance R.D. there is a Thomas QUICK who appears to have married either Alvina BROAD or Susan COOMBE.
There is no sign of any of these in the 1861 or 1881 Census.
The other marriage on this page was to Frederick HELDERBRAND and he cannot be found in 1861 either.
Stephen appears to have married Amelia BENNETTS in 1889 but he was another who could not count!
In the 1891 Census his age was recorded as 37 (born about 1853) - in 1901 he was 50 (born about 1850).
It is no doubt the same man as he was born Ludgvan and was a market gardener - consistent with earlier Census when he was 'at home'. - But he was born in 1845 and apart from Stephen Usticke Quick there is no other Stephen (let alone Stephen Thomas) born before 1854 when Stephen s/o Matthew and Alice was born at Zennor and the next Stephen does not appear until 1875.
Stephen Thomas QUICK died 1924 Penzance R.D. age 77
Henry Thomas QUICK died 1900 Penzance R.D. age 48
Mary Stevens QUICK (w/o Henry) died 1892 age 48
Mary Stevens QUICK was born c/o 1843 St Ives d/o Robert and Mary Jane (nee STEVENS) QUICK
Martha (nee JOLIFFE) w/o James Thomas QUICK died 1899 age 63.
James Thomas QUICK still living at Vellanoweth, Ludgvan in 1901.
Mary was still unmarried and working as a market gardener at Manwinnion, Ludgvan in 1901 at the age of 62.
So the only child of Thomas and Elizabeth I am unable to account for now is Thomas - wherever he went!
The grandson, John, who was with Thomas and Elizabeth in 1881 I am not absolutely certain of - but it would appear that he had to have been a son of James and Martha.
