Hello all, I have been reading your forum over the last couple of weeks with a lot of interest but still holding back from joining in. I didn't think that I would be able to contribute any useful information. Today when I read the message from malcolmdavies I had to let him know that I think that we are related. Names so far in my tree are Davies, Quick, Bryant, Roach, also others. As for the Davies connection, I have been looking for William Davies born Paul c 1800. William Davies' son William Davies is my gg grandfather. William married Mary Bryant (daughter of Henry Bryant and Mary Roach) in 1852. They arrived in Australia in 1855. Bye for now Jenny

Hello Jenny and Welcome. Sad to see you were reluctant to join us because of not being able to supply information. There are no such prerequisites for becoming a participant here. ;D The fact that you have connections back to Cornwall, and particularly West Penwith, is quite sufficient to be able to join in. And also the fact that you know at least something about Henry and Mary means you have something to offer. So please join in and let us know what research problems you have so that we might be able to help you help yourself. I also have Roach connections and also have the Bryant name creeping in on the odd occasion but I tend to expand well outside my own family connections and am interested in everything regarding West Penwith. My pleasure is to help people like yourself with your research and to hopefully 'teach' you along the way so that you might use what information you have to ultimately help others. Relax, participate and enjoy. CT

Hi Jenny, and a big welcome What more can I say, except to echo everything that Cornish Terrier has said. ;D Malcolm will be delighted I'm sure that someone else here connects to his family. I too have connections to Davis/Bryant and Roach, but mainly from the St Ives area. Everyone here has different levels and areas of knowledge/ expertise, so don't be afraid to jump in on any thread to give your thoughts on the matter. Any help much appreciated. Looking forward to reading your posts

Hi all, Thank you for the welcome, it may take me a while to jump in but if I think I can help I will. My Bryant and Roach connection is in St. Ives. Henry Bryant married Mary Roach in March 1827. Mary died before 1832 because Henry married Elizabeth Hodge. Mary Bryant who married William Davies was born in 1827. I have been trying to find if Henry and Mary had any more children before Mary died. Tracing Mary Bryant in the 1841 census I found her in a Work House in Madron, she had two children who both had died before she met William Davies. On Mary Bryant and William Davies' marriage certificate it has William Davies father as William (Laborer) and Mary Bryant's father as Henry (sailor). On William's death certificate it has William (Laborer) father and Mary formally Kendall as Mother (after lots of checking I also think it Gendall). On Mary's death certificate if has Henry Bryant (Sea Captain) as father but Mother is unknown. With this info I have Henry Bryant born 1807 in St. Ives William Bryant and Margery Thomas as parents. Mary Roach born 1807 in St. Ives, John Roach and Honor Quick as parents. Malcolm I'm not sure what a PM is but I will wait and see. Bye for now Jenny

G'day Jenny - thanks for giving us a little detail to work with. Will do a bit of research on this for you shortly but first - I think it best if we carry on this discussion in a more appropriate place. I am not an Administrator so don't know how (and can't) move this properly so what I will do is to copy your message as a quote and begin a new thread under the ST IVES section further down in the Parishes section. I will entitle it Bryant and Roach of St Ives. BTW - a PM is a Private Message for which there is a facility here that can be explained a little later. CT
