Would some kind person please have a look at a Death Index for me and check the page number please? It is for: William Rowe, Penzance district, Apr/May/June Qtr 1842 The Volume is 9, and the page number may be 142? My eyes aren't all they used to be, and would appreciate another viewpoint on this before I order the certificate. Thank you all

If it is of any help Cornishmaid...
I checked out the scanned copy of the index available through FreeBDM. The middle digit of the page number is definately not a clear character, and the transcriber was not prepared to commit absolutely (placing the middle digit as either a 4 or unreadable).
However, by comparison with other numerals on the page, I cannot see how it could be any number other than a 4, making the the page number 142.

Agreed - on A.....y it is quite clear - the 4 matches one a few lines down and no doubt about the 2.

I concur, agree and all the rest of it. Just had a look at the scanned image myself and I believe that it is most certainly a '4'.
