Hello there Trying to find out if there is an online source to Cornish Newspapers that may have reported on the inquest of Jane KESSELL born c1833 Gulval who committed suicide in September 1884? Jane was living in Boscaswell at the time and may have also been known as CARBIS. Her burial took place in Pendeen on 10 September 1884 and the entry reads Jane Kessell aged 50: Residence Boscaswell: Committed suicide in an unsound state of mind.Best regards Heather

Hi Heather, and welcome I can't think of any online archives for 1884. Either (or both) the Cornishman or the West Briton may have covered the inquest, and both are held on microfiche at the Cornwall Centre if you would like me to have a look for you. (Archives of The Cornishman are also held at Penzance; and the West Briton archives are also held at Truro County Ref. Library.) It is half term, however, so I may not be able to get there this week, but I will do my best. Just let me know.

I posted to the look-ups offer that I Have access to various WWI service records (plus census 1841-1901) and am always happy to return the favour to you, or any other "Penwither". Hello Cornishmaid Thank you so much for doing that look up for me It confirmed my theory on an old mystery and answered where an old family name originated. Now following the SYMONS trail. Don't forget, if ever I can help you with various census, BDM look ups, drop me a line, will be happy to help. (Will be posting this offer to the look-ups board too). Best regards HeatherC

Hello me luvvlies - I would be interested in having a copy of that Inquest Report also, if I may. (PM will be fine if you prefer.) Sounds like there may be information involved that could prove invaluable in helping sort out other problems. I like to gather everything I can that might prove useful in my research activities so every little bit can be of help. Ian

PS - It is a little like Miss Marple when she mutters things like 'I remember little Freddy many years ago and that .....' - 'This reminds me ....'

Thanks me Cornish Cutie Good old Miss Marple - it is amazing how familiarity with the books and, in later years, the Screen adaptations of these stories can help solve some of the problems we have with Genealogy.
