Pendeen C of E grave yard like so many in Cornwall is falling apart. I am trying to locate the graves of gr-gr-grandparents there. It is relatively new in terms of Cornish history and was wondering if the parish office has a burial map of the church yard.

Rob - nice to see you back. In answer to your query I must say that I am not sure but it is definitely possible. You might also check with the Cornwall Family History Society and also the Cornwall Record Office. There may even be some sort of Cemeteries Trust but of that I am definitely not sure. Should be able to get some sort of response from one of the above. Look forward to seeing more of you here. Ian

Thanks Ian. I discontinued my membership of CFHS some years ago because I got the strong impression that they were fast becoming just another "money grubbing" parasite i.e. you pay membership, then pay for everything you get and they sell any info you supply to them. I will find the phone number for the vicar at Pendeen and see if the parish office has any records.

Rob - I would ask Nancy Tonkin to check this for you but she has been ill for three months and still needs rest and care. I was very concerned for her as I tried for more than two months to contact her to no avail.
But the Vicar is certainly worth a try.
Another one to consider might be the Cornwall County Council.
Ian

Hello Mr. Oats amd Dew(?) How did the grave record search go? Also hope your friend is in good shape by now. I have seen someone posted grave marker photos on several sites including several of sites in or near St. Just. One such link is listed below. www.hattam.co.uk/gallery/St_Just?page=1John
