I have been discussing this thread with Cornish Terrier and thought that I might post it in the QUICK section in case there is somebody else who has these people lurking in the background and would be interested or wished to make comment.
Firstly there was Edward QUICK (son of William & Elizabeth STEVENS) and Phyllep QUICK (daughter of Richard & Amy NANCE) who were married around 1710 or so, most likely in St Ives (marriage not appearing to be recorded). They likely had the following: Richard c 4/2/1711 - buried 1715 in St Ives. William c 25/7/1714 in St Ives. Amy c 4/9/1716 in St Ives. Elizabeth c 14/12/1718 in St Ives. Bridget c 1/1/1725 - buried aged 91 years in 1814 in St Ives. Frances c 7/2/1728 - buried in 1729 in St Ives. Edward c unknown - infant buried 2/1/1730 in St Ives. Edward the father may be the Edward recorded in the burial index for the 1st May 1765 in St Ives.
Then there was a second Edward, who (according to Ian was the son of Thomas & Jane JONES) married Bridget MARTINS in February 1725 in Madron. They likely had the following: Edward c 27/8/1726 - buried 1/4/1730 in Penzance/Madron. Thomas c 22/3/1729 in Penzance/Madron. Edward c 10/3/1732 - buried13/5/1734 in Madron/Penzance Grace c 28/6/1735 in Penzance/Madron. Edward the father may well be the Edward recorded in the burial index for the 17th May 1743 in Madron.
I would be interested to get any comments on the above information, especially where somebody may have access to the original records which may have some additional information.

So, 'me old mate' - you had not told me everything. Can you elaborate on this please as it is information I did not have. This may be correct given that Administration of Edward's estate was granted to his son William 30th September 1767. And I think you may find there was another child to Edward and Phyllep. John BOLITHO m. Phillis QUICK 28th February 1756 at St Ives. (witnesses were William QUICK and Bridget QUICK). Looks likely the witnesses may have been siblings of Phillis. Any further comments or assistance will be most welcomed.

Morning Ian
Yesterday while I was trying to put my thoughts in order I looked for Bridget in the records as her position in the family was bothering me. I found an entry in the Cornwall Burial Index (FamilyHistoryOnline) for a Bridget Quick, aged 91, buried 14/9/1814 in St Ives - and I assumed that it must have been the same Bridget as baptised in 1725.

You may well be correct as I have only two people named Bridget Quick in my database. However, it is 'possible' there may have been others I have not yet identified. The second Bridget I have was married at Madron 19th February 1725 to Edward s/o Thomas and Jane (nee Jones) Quick. Given that this was a marriage in 1725/6 she would have been well over 100 years old in 1814.
I would maintain the pencil mark over the other Bridget and see if we can find something further to corroborate the information.

A "Tardus" would be handy and you could whip back and have a look to see how she is getting on - as well as do battle with the odd Dalek you meet along the way??

From memory I think it was "TARDIS" as opposed to "TARDUS" and, yes, it would be very handy to go back and have a bit of a look around at what our ancestors and their mates were up to. Would certainly help prevent some present-day headaches.

In the children of Edward and Phyllep QUICK there appears a William bap 25/7/1714. Although I seem to have some gaps in my marriage data, I am thinking that this William married Catherine JACKETT at St Ives in 1741. The Phillis you mentioned, who was a daughter of Edward and Phyllep, appears as a name amongst this William and Catherine's children which makes me think that I may well be correct. The most notable admission is the name of Edward but it may well be that it appears in the next generation if the Edward, bap 1782, is actually a grandson of this William. Oh and what chance do you reckon there is that Phyllep and Philllis are pronounced the same way as opposed to Phyllep being similar to Phillipa?

By my reckoning - yes - William s/o this Edward married Catherine JACKETT.
I currently have only connected one marriage to this family, that of daughter Elizabeth to Emanuel MARTINS at St Ives in 1768.
The Edward you mentioned (b. 1782) was, I believe, son of William QUICK and Joan (nee TRENWITH) and married Grace TRENERRY at St Hilary 6th December 1802.
It is quite possible that this last William was the son of William and Catherine but I have not yet determined this.
Phyllep, Phillis, Phillipa - these names are often confusing and I cannot say that I have a definative answer. However I always consider the possibility, when working through old records, of the similarities and seeming interchangeability.

Hi guys
I have been looking into Edward Quick m Grace (Trenerry) 6 dec 1802 and trying to go further back. I saw this thread and Cornish Terrier's post:
"The Edward you mentioned (b. 1782) was, I believe, son of William QUICK and Joan (nee TRENWITH) and married Grace TRENERRY at St Hilary 6th December 1802.It is quite possible that this last William was the son of William and Catherine but I have not yet determined this."
I also believe he was the son of William Quick and Joan Trenwith m 25 Feb 1781. I have been struggling to find this William's parents and had 2 possiblilities one being William Quick and Catherine Jackett (with a William bp 11 March 1750/51). The other being Richard Quick and Ann ? (with a William bp 21 May 1758)
Today at the records office in St Ives I found the William Quick and Joan Trenwith marriage entry in the parish register for 1781 and one of the witnesses is "William Quick". I wonder whether this witness was his father so lending more credibility to William and Catherine Jackett being his parents than Richard and Ann?. The other witness is James Wallis who I believe was the parish clerk.
I wondered whether either of you had got any further with this or anything else. I have this so far:
Edward Quick m Grace Trenerry 6 Dec 1802 Children: William bp 27 nov 1803 died 10 July 1806 Elizabeth Trenerry bp 17 Mar 1805 Grace bp 7 April 1807 (born 24 Mar 1807) Mary Ann bp 30 sept 1810 William bp 19 June 1812 (my relative) died 1880 Stepney/Bethnal Green, London Note: William, Elizabeth Trenerry and Mary Ann all move to Stepney in London before 1835
Edwards's parents:
William Quick m Joan Trenwith 25 Feb 1781 children: Edward bp 10 Jul 1782 (above) George 17 sept 1783 Grace bp 16 Jan 1785 John Bp 11 Mar 1791
Possible parents Of William:
set 1: Richard Quick m Ann ? (I do not believe this is Ann Luke as she would be too old - I also saw this on another thread) James 16 Jul 1744 (died 1748?) Richard 11 March 1746 James 29 May 1751 Elizabeth 19 oct 1755 William 21 May 1758
or set 2: William Quick m Catherine Jackett 22 dec 1741 catherine 27 sept 1742 richard 12 feb 1745 elisabeth 30 aug 1747 william 11 mar (1749/1750/1751?) James 7 Jul 1753 Phillis 11 sep 1757
Many thanks for any help

I have eight children in my database, but being relatively new to the QUICK family I would always seek clarification from Ian before hanging my hat so to speak. Anyway -
Richard, 1712 - 1716 William, 1714 Amy, 1716 Elizabeth, 1718 Bridget, 1723 - 1814 Frances, 1728 - 1729 Edward, 1730 - 1730 Phillis, ??
Interesting thing about Bridget. At some time she was a servant (spinster) to Rebecca TRENWITH who died in 1798 - leaving a will, the details of which have been well written about. Bridget and a fellow servant were subject to pecuniary legacies in Rebecca's will.
Kind regards
Lannanta

The list of children as shown by Lannanta is exactly what I have. I have found no baptism for Edward (only a burial) but it is logical that he belongs here. Phillis is also a 'logical' conclusion and especially given that the witnesses at her marriage were William and Bridget Quick, presumably siblings. YES! I am no further with this problem just yet but I will gradually get to it. Have been working on the later Quicks at St Ives and piecing all the families together from the available online PR's and the Census records. Will also utilise the Barnoon Cemetery information when I get the rest done. From there I will need to check some of the surrounding Parishes and then hope to start moving the lines backwards into the 1700's and beyong to see if I can get it all sorted out. Have found a few interesting odds and ends so far but will report on things like that later on. (More to do with Quick as a middle name and/or some of these ending up in Australia.) I WILL HAVE AN INTERESTING PROBLEM posted (hopefully) tonight that I would like you all to have a look at and comment. It is to do with the family of Robert QUICK and Catherine TREWHELLA who married at Towednack in 1822. So - rest well and be prepared! ;D
