OK - I seem to have been able trace your Eddy line back to a Henry Eddy and Mary who were the parents of your William Eddy (bp. at Gulval in 1818).
Unfortunately, I am as yet (even through IGI) to find a marriage for Henry and Mary.
However, it appears Henry was a 'cordwainer' (shoemaker) so we should be able to track him down.
Son William married Ann Tregoning at Gulval 17th August 1850.
Ann was daughter of Richard and Sarah (nee Barns) Tregoning who married at Gulval 9th October 1824 and she was the second of twelve children. (The last being twins)
In the 1871 Census Ann's daughter, Emma, was staying with James Tregoning (Ann's brother) and his father.
Included in this household was their widowed mother Sarah.
William Eddy was still alive in the 1861 Census but was obviously dead before 1871.
The following is almost certainly him:-
Gulval Burials
William Eddy buried of County Lunatic Asylum, age 44, buried 26th September 1862
This was John's father as far as I can make out.
The other problem I have found is that I cannot yet find the marriage for John Eddy and Grace Woolcock.
It does not appear in my Gulval PR records even though both were born in that Parish.
Could be that it was a marriage performed at the Registry Office but will have to try and check those records later on.
Hope this is of help and I will try to do more later on tonight.
