I think it meant that James was the son of John (who died in 1842)- it is all in tiny writing between the lines of the original

OK - so that opens up the possibility that John Ellis (s/o Thomas and Phyllis nee Tregear) nad a son also named James Tregear Ellis. Blimey - what a conundum. Will try and look more at this in the coming days. Ian

Not sure if it has been mentioned in the Madron thread but I just found Peter CHAPPLE in the 1841 Census. Lower Ninnis - Madron Willm PASCOE, 29, farmer Mary do., 29 Cyprian do., 6 Grace do., 1 Elizabeth PEARCE, 10 Peter CHAPELL, 75, Ind. Ann MANN, 55 And this is probably Peter's burial at Madron:- Peter Chapple of Union Workhouse, aged 84 1 May 1847 That would place his birth around 1763 - IF we could only find it. Ian

The only Margaret ELLIS I can find in IGI who could possibly have married John VINGOE was baptised at St Buryan 30th December 1752 d/o John and Margaret ELLIS. And there is no marriage of a John ELLIS to Margaret anybody in IGI so it will mean a search through all my PRs I think. It is also not on the OPC database. And now I don't think it is worthwhile checking all the PRs. Because this marriage most likely occurred at St Buryan sometime about 1751 and there is a gap in the St Buryan Marriages from 1743 until 1754. So perhaps if we can track down a burial for Margaret VINGOE it 'might' give us her age and we could determine who she was from that. Another problem is that I can find no other children for John and Margaret Vingoe although, as mentioned in another thread, I believe it possible that the Henry Vingoe who married Grace MANN was a son of theirs. Time to rest on it again I think. (At least until I have had some sleep!)
