I'm trying to identify the family (parents and offspring) of James Hosken (or Hosking) who married Jenifer (or Jane) Wallis 28 Jan 1804 at Madron. I know from her father's will (1836) that Jane was married to a James Hosking and this is the only marriage I can find that fits. Any ideas?

I have the following on this family if it helps. As you say James Hosken married Jenefer Wallis 28th. jan.1804 at Madron. Daughter , Jane, bapt. 10th.aug.1806 at Madron and died 11th.mar.1890. She married Matthew Newton 15th.apr.1828 at Sennen. He bapt.3rd.nov.1794 and died 3rd. may 1859, both at St.Just. Daughter Jane Newton, bapt.22nd. feb. 1829 at St.Just and died 1893 at Millom, Cumberland. She married Sampson Boase (1830-1914) 17th.nov. 1849 at St.Just. Daughter Annie Elizabeth Boase, born 1865 at St.Just married Samuell Nankivell. He born 1862 St.Mary Tavy, Devon and died 1950 Millom. Sorry, no more as yet. Two words of caution, be prepared to find Jenefer referred to as Jane and if you manage to get the Wallis line back it may well come out as Wallish. Details of the will would be appreciated as it migh thelp solve some problems. Roy

Catherine (her dau) bapt.13th. mar. 1814 at Madron. John and Catherine married in 1839 (from free bmd) but as yet not able to determine where. Again, hope this helps, Roy

Suggest you consider the following. James Hosken bapt.24th.sept.1780 at Sancreed Son of William And Mary. William Hosken married Mary Hosken 11th.feb.1779 at Sancreed. There was a James Hosken buried at Sancreed 29th.jan.1834 of the right age. Also Jane was a widow on the 1841 census at Sancreed. Roy

Thanks a lot Roy that's really useful. I had found the 1841 & 51 entries for Jane with John & Catherine Trudgen - I had also found daughter Jane but had no proof that she was indeed daughter of Jane & James. A marriage at Sennen makes sense as Janes father Robert is buried there. I'll send you will details by PM.

Lesley and Roy - please keep going with this and I will catch up as I can.
Lots to do and not much time before I have to organise a new ISP.
Thought I would already be offline but ....
Hope to be in touch soon and be able to help

I think I now have another of the Offspring of James & Jennifer - Tabitha bap. 1809 Madron - father James, married 19 Feb 1831 to Thomas White, their son James (1841-1881) Married Mary Frances Newton Boase, daughter of Sampson Boase & Jane Newton ( daughter fo Jane Hosken & Matthew Newton) do you agree?

This Tabitha could well be the daughter of James Hosken and Catherine Williams, who married 20th. july 1806 at Madron. No problem with the White line (my own) it goes back to pre 1600 at St.Just, Roy

Lesley and Roy - just a note to let you know I am trying to keep track of things here.
Cannot do much at the moment as I am trying to keep up with many things before I lose my ISP (hopefully only temporarily).
Keep going and I will jump in and help as soon as I possibly can.

Roy, I've had a look at James Hosken & Catherine Williams - cant eliminate them yet as Tabitha's parents but she did not name any of her children Catherine and did have a Jane, first girl after Joanna - named for Thomas White's mother, which to me indicates a preference for James & Jane (Jenifer)as parents . BTW Was Catherine a widow when she married James? in 1841 & 51 census he is living at Brighton Terrace Pz with "daughter in law" - presumable step daughter as she is unmarried - Sarah Williams (1801), who is at the same address in 1861 and 71 still unmarried.

Lesley and Roy - I will try and catch up on this after all else is sorted regarding ISP etc.
You seem to be handling things quite well se I need, for the moment, be a mere observer.
Will get more involved once all technical problems are sorted.
