Okay, all those Wallish and Jacka posts I made pre-crises were going somewhere...
Here is where they were going....
Honor Wallish m. William Glasson 19 Feb 1747/8 at Madron.
She was 'of Penzance' at the time of the marriage.
Honor was buried 12 Feb 1794 at Ludgvan, age 68, so therefore was b. ca. 1725.
William and Honor had only 5 children (he died fairly young): John, William, Honor, Susanna and Honor.
William and Honor of course were named for the parents, and Susanna was the name of William's mother. William's father was Thomas, whose name I presume would have been represented had there been more children.
John was the name of William's brother, and also his grandfather, (not to mention of course the most popular male name around )
Now, there is no Honor Wallish chr. in Cornwall anywhere near the year 1725.
I have so far 4 potential candidates for her parents.
1. Bennett Wallish
He had children at Madron and Penzance in the right time period:
Richard 29 Sep 1724
George 26 Dec 1726
Richard 6 Jan 1730
Mary 13 Aug 1732
Mary 17 Nov 1735
(The chronology there seems a bit tight to fit in Honor)
2. Nicholas Wallish m. Sarah Lanyon
Three children:
Sarah 4 Feb 1721
Sarah 7 Sep 1722
James 4 Mar 1723
Nicholas remarried to Jane Nicholls on 1 Oct 1729 at Madron, so must have lost Sarah sometime prior to that. Certainly some room (pending the discovery of Sarah's burial) for Honor to be fit in. Also, this Nicholas was one of the witnesses to the 1739/40 will of Honor (Perry) Glasson, grandmother of William Glasson who would later marry Honor Wallish.
3. John and Constance Wallis of St. Buryan
(see thread on St. Buryan board for details)
The Honor Wallis from this family must have been born ca. 1626/7, which would put her in the right age category for William Glasson's wife.
4. Honor base dau of Jane Jacka, chr. at Penzance in 1725.
Right place and time, but wrong surname. Jane was most likely a daughter of Humphrey Jacka of Sancreed, and named her daughter after her sister Honor Jacka (1706-1728).
The reason I have mulled over this latter one, is that beginning with John Glasson, son of Honor Wallish, the name 'Jakeh' Glasson suddenly appears in the family.
Could Jane Jacka have afterward married a Wallish? (Couldn't find such a marriage). Could she have farmed her daughter out to Wallishes to raise?
...........................
If I could get hold of the 1766 will of John Wallish of St. Buryan, I could either prove or rule out one possibility.
Any thoughts?
