I am moving the conversation regarding the 1739 Marriage of Richard HUTCHENS and Elizabeth LANYON in the interests of trying to place the discussion in a more appropriate thread.
I have been doing a little more work on this problem - here are my latest findings and I will try to pursue it from there.
By process of elimination (using IGI at the moment) I have determined that the most likely candidate for ELIZABETH LANYON to be:-
Elizabeth d/o John LANYON bp. 2nd September 1718 at Madron
I can not, so far, find a marriage for this John LANYON and, therefore, currently have no idea who his wife may have been.
Perhaps 'hichens' might have a clue here.
I can also find no further children for a John LANYON within a reasonable time-frame so presume this must be the individual to which 'hichens' refers.
It is also interesting to note that the only other baptism for a Lanyon child at Madron within any sort of reasonable time (1690-1730), and whose father was John was:-
John s/o John LANION bp. 24th August 1692 at Madron
This is, perhaps, the father of the above Elizabeth.
Hi All
I am researching:
Hichens - Madron, Morvah
Lanyon - Madron, Morvah
Holman - St Just
Boyle - Truro
James - Madron
Leggo - Sancreed
Bowden - Phillack, Constantine
Vivian - Phillack, Camborne
I have a specific research problem. My 6xgreat grandfather Richard Hichens married Elizabeth Lanyon in 1739, Morvah. In the marriage register he is recorded as "Richard Hutchens of St Buryan". I suspect that the "Hutchens" spelling is an error and that he was recorded as "of St Buryan" because he was living there at the time, rather than because he was originally from there. I cannot prove this. However, Elizabeth was from a well to do, and respected Madron family, and being an only child, one would expect her to have married into a family of similar standing. I can't find any evidence to show that the Hutchens of St Buryan were of good standing, but there was a Hichens family in Madron (related to the St Ives family) who were of indisputable good standing. I am desperate to find proof one way or t'other of which family my Richard was from.
I you think you can help, please get in touch.

Hello Hichens - and Welcome to our little gathering.
Only just noticed that you had joined and posted your first query so thought I would take a quick look at things for you before heading off to bed.
FIRSTLY - I will give you an answer here but further conversation will need to be moved to one of the relevant Parish Boards.
I am sure Zenobia will take care of that but we need to determine the most appropriate place for each of your queries.
I did a bit of work on Morvah a few years ago and used a 'spare copy' of my Morvah Transcripts to work from.
Have found the relevant HUTCHINS/LAYNON marriage and note that it is one that I had not hi-lighted. (Meaning that it is not in my database and I could, at the time, find no further information due to lack of resources.)
I now have further resources to hand but am still missing some that might prove useful in this case.
However - HUTCHENS.
I believe the Marriage entry will have been recorded correctly and also spelt correctly.
Having just checked through some St Buryan information I found numerous HUTCHENS burials there between 1700 and 1800.
One of those burials was:-
Elizabeth HUTCHENS, widow buried 15th January 1779 aged 81
This is interesting as, if near accurate, it would place this persons birth at about 1697/8.
6th March 1697 ELIZABETH d/o David and Margaret LANYON was baptised at SANCREED
This, of course, would make 1739 a rather late marriage from which there may possibly have been no children.
More information about your Elizabeth is going to be required before I can do much more.
I am in little doubt that the name 'HUTCHENS' is correct and that the St Buryan connection is also correct.
If you can give me something more to work with I will be happy to help you pursue it.
Will hear from you soon.
Good Luck and we will do our best to help.
Your remaining interests can be posted in, as you decide, the most appropriate section of the Board and they will be looked after also.

As there is nothing yet started in any other Board I will post this brief bit of information here which can also be transferred.
Just did a search of IGI for Richard HUTCHENS and found the following:-
NOTE:- as this is from IGI I would consider some caution.
Richard HUTCHENS bn. 1707 St Ives s/o John HUTCHENS & Jane LANYON (Richard apparently died 1776)
Richard HUTCHINGS bp. 6th August 1699 St Buryan s/o Bernard HUTCHINGS & Rebecka
Richard HUTCHINS bp. 3rd May 1714 St Buryan s/o William HUTCHINS & Margaret
This is all I could find that might be a match.
Given my previous posting regarding Elizabeth Lanyon I might suggest that the 1699 man might have been involved there.
Please move all further discussion to the Thread you seem most appropriate and I look forward to working on this a little further with you there.
