A couple of odds and ends to see if we can solve the puzzle.

Now, I have been unable to find a Death for Charles (James?) CARTER that is even close to being the man we are searching for.
I suspect he died sometime before July 1837 as he does not appear in St Catherine's House Death Index.
If this is the case then he was not buried at Camborne. This means he was probably buried at Gwinear but I do not have access to those records.
I think CHARLES is definately the correct name and it is not unusual to find the name of a parent incorrectly recorded on a Marriage Certificate, particularly when the (in this case) Bride was probably less than 4 years old when he father died.
HOWEVER - here is something else to throw into the mix.
The 1841 Census provides this of interest:-
Praze, Camborne
James Carter, age 35, copper miner
Jane Carter, age 40
James Carter, age 12
William Carter, age 10
HANNAH Carter, age 8
Thomas Carter, age 6
Samuel Carter, age 4
John Carter, age 4 months
In 1851 at Roseworthy Hill, Camborne I found:-
Isiah Jeffree, head, mar, 34, labourer, bn. Camborne
Anna, wife, mar, 38, bn. Camborne
Anna Carter, unm, daughter-in-law, 15, bn. Camborne
(along with other Jeffree children aged 7 and under)
The James and Jane Carter family (above) are at St Cleer and show that James and Jane were both born at Gwinear and all their children at St Ives.
In 1861 we have JOSIAH Jeffree (44) bn. Camborne with wife ANNE (48) bn. Gwinear along with their sons.
So it is all a little confusing.
At this time (1861) James BEAR, age 27, bn. Ludgvan was living at Gulval with his wife Hannah, age 25, bn. Camborne and their three children - Mary Jane, 3, bn. Ludgvan, Catherine, 2, bn. Ludgvan and Sarah Ann, 1 mth, bn. Gulval
That is about all I can do for now but still suggest that CHARLES CARTER is the man.
