If anyone out there needs some help with translating Latin (or Ancient Greek - but unlikely!) in their genealogy researches, post your problem on this thread.
I used to teach the subjects. I may be a little rusty now, but I'm sure I can still be of help!

And I was a Catholic Altar Boy in the days when the Mass was read in Latin. (So I am a very good boy ;D) But I also have a Handbook of Latin Handwriting here somewhere - one of the McLaughlin Guides I think. But you may be able to help more than one as we trek down this little 'river we have embarked on'.

If you can do it yourself, that's fine!
Send that 1400 will. I'll have a go - you do me so many fine favours!

You Latinos You - Have spoken to Nancy and she will do what she can with your follow up request. The Will 'may' be at the CRO which would be great news so see what happens from here.

Yes.
It means 'Do as you would be done by' - translated idiomatically, not literally.
Presumably an abbreviation of the aphorism of Jesus in the Gospels ' Do unto others as you would do unto you'.

Thanks Mark. I found details of some correspondence relating to one of my Rowe family, ie: "Sends copy endorsement on FIERE FACIAS in George Samuel Ford versus William Rowe, defendant is captain of the schooner "Fidelity" and resides at St Ives.. he is also believed to be part owner of the vessel." The next letter says that Rowe could not be arrested since neither the Ship Fidelity or its Captain (Rowe) are in port at present.
